With all the towers and apartment buildings going up, the gentrification of vast swathes of town into neutral bars and food places, there’s something to be said for those areas, places, buildings that play back to a certain era.
Granted it’s a complete shit hole, but it’s still Manchester, still has character and a certain energy. Even if that energy is screaming “Get the fuck out before you get stabbed!”
Can see why this place appeals to Luke, he’s very much a product of the whole ecosystem that grew out of the crescents, or bullrings, in Hulme (Tangled being a more well known example).

This area,, and possibly venue, has a similar ‘energy’! But at least it’s not bland and neutral (yet).
Sorry for the ramble, I love Manchester deeply and its ’neutralisation’ makes me sad. Maybe I’m just an old cunt who doesn’t like change!
