Underworld at Brixton last night
Our tickets were in the upstairs seated area which in hindsight was a mistake - it looked a lot more fun on the main floor, and we felt quite detached from it. There was a lot of smoke so couldnt really see them at times and ended up viewing via the screen.
As for the music, solid as always with them. They didnt really play album versions of their big hits, each song seemed to have been edited slightly - Dark & Long for example. There was a 25 minute section in the 2nd part where they played presumably some new stuff, no vocals just beats which lost the crowd a bit I thought (could have just been the people in the seated area though). I dont think Karl Hyde did a lot of singing - lots of autotune/vocoder type words. Very noticeable when they did Born Slippy (which admittedly he did sing).
Having been to Brixton Academy twice now I am definitely not a fan. Really long queues to get in, go to the toilet, cloakroom etc.
Would be interested to hear what others think after tonight and tomorrows performance
