See you front and centre Alistair!
What events/gigs have you bought tickets for?
Like Wally, James Zabiela at Joshua Brooks later. Donning what will likely be the only alternativeroute tee in the building if anyone spots us and wants to say hello

It’s east to spot Wally, he will be in his sports washed murder shirt and gutrah.

Didn’t bother with Joshua Brookes in the end. The PTSD from seeing Nick Warren there last year still burns. Decided to call it a day, get a subway and stuff my face instead. Thinking I made the right choice this morning. Currently on the train back to Leeds and the Mrs seems happy she can palm our son and his footy class back off onto me so probs saved myself an ear bashing later lol.
A few years back, I went to see Sasha at ‘The Church’ in Leeds which (amazingly) is a modifed church. It was one of the worst nights out I ever had with the only redeeming feature being Sasha’s set. Shite crowd, venue, sound system, the lot so had a bit of trepidation going to Manc Cathedral for a rave up.
In a way yesterday was the mirror image of that. Cracking crowd (decent doris to blokes ratio too - 55:45 ish), venue was cool, sound system was decent enough for an on the fly job (although definitely had it’s sweet spots) but Sasha played far too many tunes from that Glastonbury set. At least 8 in roughly the same order I reckon so kinda let it down. I dunno what’s going through his head when he knows he’s put the set out there. I know he’s renonwned for over hammering tracks but this took it to a new level. Longer it went on, the more of a let down it became really. Add an hour of your standard Sasha warm up to that Glastonbury set, chuck in a few new bangers and you’d not be far off last night at all. I’m sure he’ll be mint at Fabric in Sept doing an all nighter as he usually is but I think I’m done with going to see these 3 hour sets.
Still, had a good crack seeing some familiar faces and it was a good laugh. Parry played a good start up set. Loads of synthy tunes which sounded grand so overall glad I went over.
It was advertised as an extended set, since when is 3 hours an extended set? I get that festivals are all 1-2 hour sets, but surely in a club, as the main DJ, 3 hours should be minimum
Dixon was excellent last night, faith restored.
Unlike Sasha he played all new music. Did not recognize a single tune.
Flow was fucking awesome otherwise too, really enjoyed myself. 7,90 € for a small can of beer was pretty ridiculous though, but I guess to be expected. No way I could afford more than one night there with my drinking. At least the beer was easy to get, enough bars so that the lines were maybe 5 people deep later on.
Feeling really rough now trying to down a strong lager to steady myself at the train station before heading home.
Coldplay in Copenhagen.
A strategic procurement!
Diggers in Oct. Afterlife in Nov in the hope that Paddy B is on the line up. Been looking for some dub techno in London but its pretty threadbare - I sense an opportunity !!
Confidence Man in November. Time to get my spangly boob tube and fairy wings out. COOL.
Just bought tickets for Daniel Avery @ Outernet in London. Which is nice, although it is the night before Bicep at Alexandra Palace.
Bob Moses in November.
I reckon that’s defo got a lot of potential. Would like to see them myself.
Nights like that simply don’t exist here. What a weekend.
Cankles-McJeggings There new (ish) album is really good.
Yeh I like a lot of their stuff.
Got an afternoon in London for James Zabiela, followed by Sasha at Fabric. I’m only doing Fabric because I am meeting an old friend from 20 years ago. 8 hours in Fabric, I could do without.
Leftfield - Steelyard in Dec.
apyssjw really wanted to go to that, but am on holiday. Steelyard should be a great venue for a Leftfield gig.
Before it became the Steelyard that place was our local boozer, had many a long lunch and late night session there, even used to have our Xmas parties there. I used to say to the owners that it would make a great club, but they weren’t interested. A few years later and bosh it’s a decent club in london.
Brixton pubs followed by Hot Chip at the Academy tonight. Ready for the floor so to speak.
Legoland tomorrow. Hold tight for feedback.
I’m going to the England vs. Germany game on Monday. I realise that the tournament doesn’t matter, but having never seen England “live” before, Germany at Wembley stadium seemed like a good way to fix that.
Saw England v Germany at the Euros last summer.
Which was nice.
