Went to see Nick Warren on Saturday. Afraid to say he wasn’t much cop (putting it politely) and the mix that inspired the evening out must have been a total one off or something. He certainly dropped some bangers but the mixing was too quick and the programming was poor (he mashed an absolute banger into a chilled breaks tune at one point early on and it was like ‘wah?’ and he was dropping tunes from a live set he released on MixCloud back in September including ‘novelty’ tunes like a cowgirl and new order crystals remix which didn’t help matters. Seemed more of a novelty party set than a DJ set tbh.

The venue wasn’t much to write home about - small intimate place but the sound system only worked in the main bit and it was a weird crowd - some nice people I got chatting to but some people absolutely off their faces, way past your average - I got a rollocking off a scouser because of the Newcastle takeover ‘buying the league’ who seemed oblivious about where he was at that point in time - a dealer was flogging acid and said I wasn’t hardcore enough when I wasn’t up for it. Fair enough I guess. lol. - it was reasonably busy and TBF, the people who were there were jumping but they didn’t get anywhere near selling out. They didn’t even check my tickets on the way in. You could say it’s close to xmas but I think Digweed / Sasha would have filled the place easily. I guess Warren and the soundgarden stuff just hasn’t got the pull to play bigger venues in the UK.

Nice to see some familiar faces and an evening out is an evening out but I’ll not be bothering with Warren or Joshua Brooks (the venue) again.

Wally Fuck me, sounds rough Wal. All the more disappointing you couldn’t make the man like at Fabric

The final nail in the Nick Warren coffin.

      Thank god.

I love how ali keeps bringing up the fact Wally missed Sasha @ Fabric. 😅

SM001 ah who wouldn’t like having ONE OF THE WORST DAYS OF MY LIFE brought up a few times for the lolz?

Wally Man that sounds crap. People massively off thier face is usually a good thing, unless we’re talking about booze.

Was a shame you missed Sasha at Fabric Wal as it WAS ABSOLUTELY FUCKING BRILLIANT.

would have been out the door as soon as i heard the intro to cowgirl

Got a ticket for the Kraftwerk and Chemical Brothers gig. Also for Garnier at Fabric in February 👍🏻

Wally Oddly enough he’s one of his favourite DJ’s 🤷🏼‍♂️

I think it’s daft going out the weekend before Christmas. People are dropping like flies - 5 people in my team tested positive this weekend

Along_the_Wire Booked it ages ago and am meeting my brother who is coming up from Bath for the first time in six months. We’re triple jabbed, You can catch this thing anywhere.

alistair I know it sounds like I was having pop pal, but I wasn’t - I just wouldn’t risk it personally - there’s is so, so much of it about (which is probably a good thing in the long term (Hugo)). I cancelled that ski trip for this weekend. Have fun!

Along_the_Wire I put back our week in the Canaries until Easter so its one of the only things I am looking forward to mate. My 15 year (jabbed once) isn’t considered fully vaccinated and wouldn’t now be allowed in even with a negative PCR.

                alistair

                That’ll be class.

I’m running this in 2 weeks for a small 120 cap daytime event near central station in Newcastle if you fancy it. I’m hiring in a nice VOID sound system.

Located in Archie’s Lab (back of colonel porters emporium) 4pm until midnight/1.

Some photos from the last time we were in there:

                  Larry and Dave, quite tempted…

Hydra was cancelled today. Will be re-arranged. Bought tickets for Dusky at Phonox in Feb.

Tickets confirmed for Field Day next year.

See you in there with a whopping great kitchen sink Alistair.

No can do on the Dusky front sir.

They will tear it up in there, Phonox is awesome, cracking little club.

Any decent nights out over the next couple of months? Looking around and other than Garnier at Fabric, I think that’s it? Ta.

Am off to see Saoirse and Peach at Phonox tonight.

                      Which is nice.

If you are into weird & pretty shite music.

Sean ‘Not a fucking clue’ Comer’s in the house!

Needless to say he hasnt a clue about Saoirse or the general ‘anything goes’ music policy at her gigs but he will soon enough.

This is Sean ‘Not a fucking clue’ Comer signing out.

seanc80 I presume you’ve seen Saoirse before then?

I have chief, in Croatia a few years ago.

                        She was absolutely mustard.
