Question 1: I recently discovered the American League and the National League in the MLB have different rules (the ‘designated hitter’ rule). Madness! Why? And which rule prevails in the World Series?
Ask Yanks about their sports
Question 2: Who are the most genuinely reviled team and supporters in the NFL? I’ve read, at various times, Dallas, New England, Philadelphia and Oakland (for different reasons).

Q3: When will Americuh be good at an actual sport?
An American take on the way the CL should be drawn. City finished 18 points behind the champions last season for starters, and they’ve also been knocked out at the quarters every season under Guardiola. Fucking idiot.
Echo Yeah, I’m actually quite against the American idea of seeding teams in a knockout competition. I understand why they do it - there’s an argument that says people want to see the 1 and 2 team meet up in the final. But there has always been a glorious randomness to the FA Cup, and FIFA World Cups before they took seeding seriously, such that you got Argentina, Brazil and Italy in a group together in a bizarre second stage group at the 1982 World Cup (meanwhile France, Austria and Northern Ireland were in another), which could never be allowed to happen now.
Zackster says he’s looking forward to the soccer when he comes here.
I cannot wait to see the Blues from Chelsea and their fabulous manager Frank Lampard; my all time favorite player!
bosstrabs Re: DH: the AL says that the pitcher’s spot in the batting lineup can be substituted for a replacement hitter (designated hitter: DH) due to the fact that pitchers have, historically, batted worse than I used to back in little league. The NL says that rule is basically a pile of festering dogshit and pitchers must bat for themselves, but the NL is currently at the whim of MLB pressure which will likely to force them to adopt the DH rule within the next year or so.
