Have we already done one of these? If so, apologies, I couldn’t find it.

Anyone catch the selection for the up coming Lions tour to SA? Intrigued to say the least, good to see Gatland has a specific idea of how he wants to play, should make for interesting stuff.

Some of the selection calls were questionable / surprising

That’s Gatland tho his record is unreal

Heno Yeah, can’t see him getting it massively wrong. Fingers crossed it’s as good as the NZ tour. Hope they get some crowd in there too, no idea what the score is in SA.

Amps we had kinda talked about going that’s the lions tour I would be into, NZ one middle of winter normally get hammered no thanks, Oz is just to expensive,
Wonder what the saffers will be like they haven’t played in 18 months,
      Suprised he didn’t pick May / Sinkler/ Davies/ Sexton

I would normally just say ’it’ll be brutal’, but as rugby is virtually ‘no contact’ these days, I think it will just be fast as fuck from both sides. The game is slowly being morphed into a form of basketball, and ball speed, passes out of the tackle etc. will be everything in the future of rugby, recon that will be reflected here.

Isn’t Sexton considered a bit injury prone? I’d probably still take him, talented old head, game winner etc.

Amps he is but he was the best outhalf in the 6 nations played in at the matches bar France one cause Tipric caught him at the end of the Wales match, barely missed a kick taught he was a bit unlucky, Russell has thrown away so many matches he is a liability, he’s decent if your playing the barbarians

Is there a Barbarians game on the schedule???

Lions opener agains SA: Odd game, not sure either deserved to win it, very enjoyable though, no idea how we didn’t get a red for the spear / tip tackle, couldn’t hear the TV in th boozer.

I was bang wrong here, some decent contact and far from a completely fluid game.,

Think the best team won, but only because we couldn’t close out the game or take advantage in the first half. Should have been twenty up by the end of the first.

Amps Some poor decision making from the Lions really cost them. Morne Steyn is very near the top of my ‘South African sportsmen with a massively punchable face’ list. Second only to Graeme Smith I reckon…

vinnyt77 Nah, the answer to that one is Faf de Klerk:

vinnyt77 I liked that they where going for the corners and trys though rather than just kicking it. The right attitude imo.

Amps First half, yeah. The penalty with ten to go when three points down? I’d have taken the three, and gone again…

De Klerk is deffo in the top 5

                  An underwhelming end I thought.

                  Attritional stuff.

Unbelievable game at Twickenham this afternoon. Proper test rugby…

vinnyt77 We were shocking for most of the second half. Fuckin terrible reffing too, they shouldn’t of had their man sent off in the last ten for the ‘tackle in the air’, he clearly went for the catch and just ended up entangled. The not rolling away rule is becoming a nonsense, Scotland got fucked by it earlier, ruining the game for me at the moment.

Agree about the rolling away/ clearing our rules. They need a major rework.

For me, Kolisi deserved a yellow. Don’t think he’s a dirty player, but he misjudged his jump, and tackled the man in the air. Was never gonna get anywhere near the ball. The take out in the air just at the final whistle was worse in a lot of ways, as it looked deliberate, and vindictive…
