Anyone else have or has had Tinnitus in there life. I had it years ago and it did go after a while but it’s come back in my right ear which i rather annoying. Is there anything i can do to alleviate the symptons.

Dubman I got it bad post gig. The sides of my head were numb. Then everything musical sounded discordant. Terrifying. Went to the doc and he basically said tough titty and hope it gets better.

The discordant sounds went pretty quickly, but the ringing didn’t. Tried various things to alleviate it including some trick I saw on the internet of flicking your fingers on the base of the cranium. Did something, but very short term. Like a few minutes. So tough titty it was…

A couple of years later, still suffering, I went on a health kick. Got the pump on in the gym, lost a fair bit of weight and got in shape. Tinnitus went.

Then covid hit and started to put on weight with no gym. It returned.

Yeah I have tinnitus from headphone and earphone use. If you’ve got damaged hearing from noise exposure I don’t think there’s anything you can do to help it other than stay well rested, don’t stress your body out with “toxins”, watch your blood pressure and generally take care of your health.

If you have white noise in the background, e.g. a fridge freezer, a laptop, a fan that helps. Eventually your brain will tune it out and you won’t really hear or care about it too much. But it’s definitely a red flag of some sort imo.

My friend posted this and with it being two years ago you guys might want to check out what the developments are now.

The trial was only open for US citizens in America but they stated if the early results are promising (which as we see here, they are) they will apply for fast track status with the FDA

Potentially we can be looking at a drug that reverses noise induced hearing loss available in literally 3-5 years.

I done a job for a customer not so long ago and the husband a retired Dentist who has only 10% hearing in one ear only. He uses a great hearing aid which is connects to a mic via an app on his phone through a Bluetooth signal so he can hear what is wife is saying. The only problem is that it picks up background noise. Not good when she’s using the toilet.

i’ve lived with tinnitus for about 7 years now. the ringing started after a kevin saunderson show (the highs were way too loud and i forgot my ear plugs that night) and never left. it’s not debilitating for me, but it’s always there. that’s part of the reason i rely on a mastering engineer for my tracks as there are frequencies i just can’t hear properly and sometimes i struggle with conversations in environments with lots of background noise.

now it’s always custom in ear plugs when i’m out, mixing/monitoring at low levels, keeping the widows up when i’m driving, etc. it’s worse when i’m tired or eating too many carbs or, obviously, if i’ve been listening to music too loudly for too long. i just have to be careful and it hasn’t gotten worse for me the last few years, hopefully it stays that way.

Yep, had it for years, constantly there and I go through periods where it seems more noticeable. It’s mostly about distraction for me which is probably why I like to have things on all the time and listen to podcasts when I goto sleep.

Mine’s at its worst after a few drinks. Was out last night and when I got back to the quiet of the house it’s like screaming in my ears, which is a little off putting.

apparently there is a link between caffeine and ear damage. i was certainly drinking a tonne of coffee when my tinnitus started. I would recommend avoiding red bull and coffee before, during or after exposure to loud noises such as gigs etc.

That’s an interesting thought. I don’t drink coffee in the evenings. I’ve also read that cannabis may help the symptoms before going to bed.
Judging by everybody’s experience it seems I’ve just got to live with it and hope that it goes away sometime.

weed makes my tinnitus way worse, but i care less, if that makes sense. i’m not sure if it’s like that for everyone though.

Your brain will tune it out eventually mate. Just be mindful of the need to protect your ears going forward and you’ll be grand.

cannabis makes you more introspective. not what you want if you’re trying to tune out internal noise.

maybe cbd oil could work. don’t know though, never tried it.

i haven’t found cbd to make much of a difference foe me either.
