  • A History of Trance Music in Ten Tracks

I wasn’t giving MIKE a kick so much as saying they had 10 songs to choose. Are they the best 10 songs? Likely not, not my favs, but when I think of trance those 10 are pretty good choices. What are you taking off in favor of Lieb and MIKE?

They should’ve just said “disc 2” and ended the article.

hugopal fair enough, i’m not a huge fan of genre arguments anyways. general descriptive value is fine, but most of it is just splitting hairs.

I put Jonatton’s musical choices in the same file as Dave’s.

Horrific.

Hank_Solo it’s a running joke on this board - not entirely sure how or why it started though, perhaps it was said by someone because I love it.

Still think those early BBE tracks sound good (Flash and Seven days)

Dan not even when you were tearing it up to Oakie at Colchester Poly?

Unbroken1 I meant revisionist in saying we didn’t like it at the time. Holds some great memories despite me having had no interest in playing it in recent years

When you’re 54 years old everything was better 20 years ago. I wouldn’t exactly call 2001 “old school techno” but I’ll defer to Mauro superfan Zackster for that one.

jonattonyeah It’s all a of load of shit.

        Old School Techno 140bpm

        Modern Day Techno 130bpm

Go back another 10 years & techno was probably way below 130. When I occasionally have mix of my early techno I’m surprised at how slow it is in bpm’s

80’s techno for sure was below 130 bpm.
