  • Controversial Prog Takes

I do love Zackster’s attempts at going against the grain in these prog threads.

Echo no against the grain here. Singapore is my #3 easily. Fantastic mix, both discs.

bosstrabs Nah, first hour is decent then it goes a bit too much too soon with Dreaming etc.

Old-Dutch Every time my computer suggests I save 800Mb by deleting this mix or archiving it somewhere, I tell it to fuck off!

      Dreadful take.

Old-Dutch It’s a fuckin good shout, but it’s pipped at the post by his set at the the Bomb in 97, which is the epitome of a Sasha set.

The last track, never ID’ed, is an absolute behemoth.

Echo Opening track and closing track both have a bit of a Chemical Brothers sample / loop over them too which isn’t credited.

Echo recon that is something unreleased on Excession. it’s the right time period and the exact right sound for the label. Probably something by Justin Scott Dixon or The Light.

Dude was probably too batty and/or lazy to bother releasing them. “Oh that track..,yeah I dunno…..why are you asking me at a urinal?”

            JVM Bedrock > Digweed Bedrock

Echo there’s a bug in the module it belongs to. I’ve reported it to the developers.

Amps The mix from Dreaming to Ubik is poor. It’s like someone called him on his mobile and he forgot to mix in the tune earlier (a la Graham Gold).

As an aside, Ubik has to be on the list for ultimate Bedrock tunes. Baguio Track being another that springs to mind.

Never knew there were so many fans of this Essential Mix, always thought some of his others seemed more popular among the prog cognoscenti, even bizarrely the Maida Vale one.

There used to be a real monster of a Sasha mix around this time (well, 1999 possibly) from Gatecrasher on the Gatecrasher web site (video included), where he pitched everything up and just banged it out, pure power prog. Would love to get hold of that.

SM001 Cheers but it wasn’t an Essential Mix.

It was one of Sasha’s regular gigs at Gatecrasher, I think it may have been a 3-4 hour set, and it was hosted on their web site.

zackster Go and wither in a corner with your Jeff Mills drivel. Whenever the Baguio Track kicked in at Bedrock everything kicked into place. You wouldn’t understand because you weren’t there. A proper Bedrock moment. I feel for you Zack.

I remember liking it at the time. Tried playing it having a mix at home in about 2004 and remember just wanting it to finish. Ended up taking it off less than half way through

                    BlainSA

The Bedrock mate. Enjoyed it out when I heard it at the time but I just couldn’t sit through it at home.

Don’t worry, it’s just Zack being an absolute thalidomide as per.

He’ll scuttle off into a corner after calling you a ‘beta’ or a ‘cuck’ or some other totally worn-out Yank phrase typically lobbed by people who are ‘betas’ and ‘cucks’ themselves.

                        Old-Dutch
I loved hearing it on a big system but no so keen playing it at home.

Dave and Baguio Track: file under Low T

Dave going full alpha, cap doffed.

Old-Dutch Yeh, agreed. The Bedrock mix is pretty drawn out though still quality. More a track for the floor. I was referring to the original in my earlier post.

I see Zack doubling down. Keep on truckin’ as you fellas say.

Sasha’s 2000 EM better than his 95 mix? The amount of wronguns that post on here would make you sick.
