vinnyt77 It also meant you got to hear what a DJ REALLY sounded like live, which in a lot of cases, was really not good
Disc 2s of Superior Quality
zackster saw him there.
Nickās home baked Mixsaka.
jonattonyeah i just canāt get into it. If there is one style I absolutely hate it is the ny, long island, whatever house. Just atrocious.
Fair. I used to hate it but warmed up in recent years.
jonattonyeah
You hear me girl
jonattonyeah Get your hands off my man!
LT42 Nothing wrong with 006 disk one, itās more than decent, perfectly mixed flows well⦠but, with 006 disk two youāre hearing something genuinely unique⦠John at the height of his powers, playing his toughest as fuck stuff, not for the faint hearted, flowing like each track was written for the next, and in a vintage year before the internet ruined everything⦠the stuff on disk two is proto vortex, proto muscular, fluxing in some ethereal doorway between the panel beaters from Prague and the dayglow kids of Sheffield. It makes my balls tighten.
Plus, it genuinely represents what the he sounded like at that time, Iām not sure all GU defo did that? Saw a lot of John around 98, and it was with the disk two stuff that he was fucking clobbering dancefloors. If youād seen him play a set of that stuff, youād still be cunting on about it now, as I am. Tops off? youād fuckin skin yourself and swing from Edās neck.
If you like the stuff from the late 90s, or if the Sasha set from The Bomb does anything for you, Iād urge you to give it more than a couple of listens, itās fuckin sublime and on par with anything from those years. Hard, driving, epic, ethereal, boom boom woosh!

Fucking hell Amps is relentless about GU006, itās alright mate we get it.
It was our warm-up CD for about six months before hitting GK around 1999*, it took an absolute battering. For that reason, it has absolute classic status for me.

Now, itās so full on I canāt listen to it.

If memory serves me correctly, thatās the mix where he fucks up a couple of the mixes on one of the disks? Proper wellies in the washing machine? Clearly didnāt give enough of a fuck to have another go. Amazing in hindsight. Some bangers on there though.
Warrenās Brazil and Budapest are insane in retrospect. You think Jeff Mills is cement mixer? Check those out and think again.
zackster I always loved the rumor that he had a shower built off to the side of the dj booth in Arc, so that he could bathe during his 18 hour marathon sets.
To be fair, this is the kind of shit I would do if I was a famous dj but on the wrong side of 35, as I am now.
A decent shower twice a day is massively underappreciated. Especially by the French.
To sum up, GU13 CD1 is the daddy of all mixes.
Thank you and goodnight.
