Also Perception is a fantastic tune, and it’s placement is the mix is just fine. Xpander is what ruins the flow of that cd, period.

As an aside, I remember the Mixmag article about Cass that was in the copy that Planet Progressive came with. According to the article Sasha was waiting for a tune that Cass and Slide were working on before releasing Ibiza. Before they had finished it a lightning strike knocked out their hard drive, and they lost the tune. They broke the news to Sasha, but he said he wanted a track so badly, that they got back into the studio and made Perception.

Ibiza, disk 2… isn’t the crux of the argument, disk one vs disk two, the opening three tracks on disk two and how they just don’t work together? That they somehow tarnish the rest of the almost perfect mix? Others arguing it’s this eclectic ensemble that is at the heart of it’s brilliance?

If you went into a club and heard any other dj play breaks, into muscular house, into moody prog, you’d show yourself the door… wouldn’t you?

Things have currently devolved into the same old arguments. But fear not, I will be getting things back on track with my review of 007 Disc 2!

I don’t think Perception feels too out of place, it’s that stupid fucking Pob tune that that’s the fly in the ointment

Smallman1 we’ve had this discussion, i don’t your ears don’t work properly. it absolutely could not be worse if mixed by a child who’d never listened to music before.

vinnyt77 It got played 3 times at one Fabric Tyrant! Twice by Sasha and once by Burridge after (and not the 3 Tyrants mix).

          vinnyt77 100%.

Loved Perception as a tune, but felt square peg / round hole at this point in the mix. Always felt it would have worked better at the end of the mix…

          this

zackster Seem to remember they sent a first run of it to Burridge and he told them it was good but it could be better, so they got back to it and voila.

Finding this thread to be a lot like 006 Disc 1. Started off strong , hit an unnecessary lull, has a big Tenaglia moment in the middle, and ends up in an unexpected trancey place.

A lol for those who think 007 is awful because of the mixing.

          Absolute amateurs!

Smallman1 do you think it’s well-mixed? or well-programmed, for that matter?
