Nope.

New York has quality tunes, even if you want to turn your nose up at the mixing. Oslo hardly even has quality tunes.

Disc 2 has Taucher ‘Waters’, which is great, but that’s pretty much it. In fact, the track Oakey decides to play after such a high point manages to perhaps be the worst track to grace a GU comp.

On the subject of the thread, Disc 2 is still somehow better than Disc 1, which is mostly drum & bass.

        ScottBailey fair enough, but it’s a really poor effort. a professional should be objectively much, much better when it comes to flow, technical transitions, programming, and ensuring the sum is greater than the parts. he failed on every account, which is my problem. a bedroom dj puts out this mix, i have no issue with it.

                Mad_Cyril lol i guarantee you could put those tracks together in a more interesting way and better mixed. might be a good board mix contest, see who can put gu007 together better than oakey. although with that track selection, you back is already up against the wall. 🤣

                    I don’t even blame Paul, honestly. I don’t think he knows any better. Having watched several of his interviews throughout the years, I am fairly sure he is retarded. He talks like someone who was drilled in the head with a log splitter. The idiots that turned up to see him spin and James & Andy are the real issue, because they are the ones exploiting a person with mental (and physical) deficiencies.

                      just to add, this is basically my point. oakenfold’s entire career was predicated on timing. if he shows up 10-15 years later, there’s no way any of us would have even heard of him. he’s like tong, contributed early in the scene, but really isn’t any good.

                            Disc 1 of GU007 is almost perfect. I cried to it listening to it driving round ibiza. I’ve nver actually heard CD2 but cannot believe it could be any better.

                              lets switch gears and talk about how good disc 1 of buenos aires is. always been a big fan of that one. and while i like disc 2 as well, the first one is better.

                                    Love Twin Town and Breakthrough, but it honestly sounds like he’s just aligned everything in ProTools and used a basic fade out on the tune before when mixing. Lazy!

                                        the mixing is lazy for sure, but at least it’s beat matched and phrased properly, even if some of the levels leave something to be desired. the programming is good though, i like the flow (intro is great and the last four to close have always done it for me).
