Rubbish one. We’ve had to do a round of pcr’s as there are now, for the first time, a number of cases at the little one’s nursery. I’m sort of amazed its taken this long for it to hit the nursery - but it does maybe speak to a rise in cases at the moment.
It’s everywhere - schools and nurseries especially - it’s where I got it from.

You still get textures and your taste buds pick up bits here and there and your brain tries to piece the 2 together (at least mine did).
I went to town on an amazing Indian takeaway which I wanted to make sure I got in before I lost mine. Discovering you’ve lost your sense of smell and taste as you bite into a tandoori lamb chop starter with £70’s worth of food sitting in front of you is a cruel cunt.

Along_the_Wire Things aren’t back to “normal” though are they? People are still dying, hospitals are under intense pressure and it’s going to become a permanent thing - catch covid once or twice a year and just get on with it. Fuck that. It’s fucking awful and despite being double vaxxed, people can still become really ill.
If they want to go down that route, make vaccinations and mask wearing mandatory.

Along_the_Wire I mostly kept my taste but my smell completely went other than a weird chemically smell that seemed to be blocking anything getting through. Still getting pangs of it now in the second week but my smell is getting better every day.
Wally To be honest wal, hospitals are not under massive pressure. We are basically back to normal work, a few on ICU but nothing like the 51 we had at the peak. I am doing normal work. Biggest pressure is staff off because of catching it rather than covid taking up all the resources that are present. That and a massive backlog of patients. Many of whom have been on waiting lists for surgery for ages and other stuff has happened in the meantime that we diagnose at pre-op tests (anaemia / renal failure) and then that delays surgery further whilst we get that sorted. GPs are working their tits off.
But i’ll keep it in the C19 thread. Oh and yes, almost all the ones on ICu that are in deep trouble are unvaccinated
