He does break some great records take Eagles & Butterflies Can’t stop and the Adam Port remix of no dancers are two tunes I remember him playing way before anyone else. He was good at Junction 2 (the only time I have seen him), but he wasn’t as much fun as Maceo Plex.

SM001 Sometimes you have just got to hear these records played out first. Huge reaction.

Wasily Yeah he was using one of those rotatary ISO420 mixers (about £3000).

    Mixer nonce.

zackster Famous DJ in ’famous DJ isn’t a very good DJ’ news headline shocker. He ain’t the first, he won’t be the last.

    zackster Job Jobse

I find him very different from what you’re referring to, and I hate the floating burner house stuff. Jobse always interests me ’cause he’s all over the place with the tracks. From early 90’s rave, to some Fad Gadget industrial track, to something released on Ed Banger. Same with Palms Trax. They take chances and dig into older records. With excellent mixing. I see Jobse as being very different from the Burridge/ADID stuff, where all the tracks are carbon copies of each other.

Dixon just uses his mixes as a vehicle for pushing Innervisions. I still have time for him but what made him excellent was that he played, and his label released, just good music. Now it’s become a “sound” unto itself and I find it quite flat. It’s no longer what’s good, but rather what fits within the Innervisions bubble.

Finally, a comfortable environment for me to admit that I try to familiarise myself with Dixon and to explain to friends how profound of a talent he is based on what I hear from others. In all honesty, pushed myself (against my own will) through his set at Rakastella set in 2019 along with streaming various sets. It is Laurent Garnier, Sasha, John, Van M and Guy J that provide the right mesmerisation for me.

But then I quickly pull up this clip and realise the vice grip that he is able to put on a room. Certainly have to catch him in the proper atmosphere. Admittedly his entry and respect is unmatched.

zackster “Several tracks sound like something that would have come out on Audio Therapy back in 06” cracking comment and is so very true

Any chance a share on the Dixon set from somebody who downloaded please 🙂

zackster And the to top it all off, I have the mental image of Dixon standing up there, wearing a matching Dragon Ball Z shirt and short combo, looking like the first person to successfully contract Covid for a second time.

        This gets a lol!

Can someone send me the Dixon link please?

        Cheers.

I’ll add it soonish. I liked it, first half was a lot better though, couldn’t believe he closed with the worst track of the set, but then his best mix CD (Body Language vol 4) had a bonkers last track too that made no sense.

Christian The track around 37 min is horrific. Has Dave Seamen written all over it!

zackster How do you dance to this shit? You can’t two step, thats for sure

🧓 👴 middle aged man post of the week 😅
