Maybe for some, it is yeah… It’s certainly dividing opinion. I’ve seen quite a few negative comments this week mainly from US and some South American folks who clearly aren’t into it.
I think it’s more a case of him playing what he likes, rather then what is expected. It has certainly piqued my interest in him again. Before last week and the Renaissance ‘orchard’ set from earlier this summer, I hadn’t listened to one of his sets in a long, long while. Just looking at the tracklists was enough to put me off.
I said this in a previous post. I thought the first 70 minutes of last weeks set was ridiculously good, dare I say vintage Sasha. I’ve not had many positive things to say about his musical direction for years, so it makes a change to give credit where (I think() it’s due.
