  • John Digweed 'Live In' Series - Fabric, London

I actually checked this out from Disc 3 onwards.

The only other one of Diggers’ live CDs I’d listened to prior to this was Tokyo and that was a complete slog and a chore to get through. Absolutely wretched.

This was at least vaguely listenable background wallpaper, which on Diggers’ recent output seems about as good as it gets.

There is also a track in there, Hyena ‘The Greed’, which is beyond hideous - it literally sounds like someone who’s got the squits.

hugopal I don’t mean in a Chris Liberator styli. Its more hard in the sound than the overall track. Metallic synth stand , moody 101 bass sounds, not a lot of melody, no variation using strings/pads. These types of mixes are just a hard listen, not very accessible or rewarding IMO. Very infuriating knowing what Diggers can produce . Goes back to the previous point he may be putting out these types of mixes because he thinks it’s the sound de jour and SHOULD be putting them out . All a bit strange in my book.

Isn’t he almost 60? A lot of the criticism seems rooted in unrealistic expectations. He’s a cracking live DJ, or was, but for mixed releases the last thing I thought was any good was the first Bedrock (like 20 something years ago). Guess I’m not sure what you all were looking for other than rote prog meets drab tech house given that’s been his label for years now.

For me, I thought the Bunkers were superb and thought he’d take that ethos a bit more into his productions and events. I know his cash cow product is similar to the Apple mixes / Live Ins, but thought he’d push out a more diverse selection of music and events. Maybe I will be proved wrong at the Bedrock in April………will be a sit down affair with canapés and mulled wine.

JC crew front and centre and tops off from the get go?

          You knowz it!

that sums it up right? the current business model looks to me like quantity over quality, trying to ring every last dollar out of a career before calling it quits. not saying i blame him if people are buying it, but it all feels pretty stale to me.

          🤣 🤣 🤣

Giving that 3 mix a listen whilst cooking chicken tikka Dhansak. It’s pretty good. Although the curry is magnificent.

can anybody create a CUE file for mixes for those who has CD-s? I don’t know timestamps for tracks that were not included in itunes/spotify version? I may do it by myself, only need to know the length of those 9 tracks that are missed

I could but my CD is still in Germany. Fucking DHL.

To really appreciate the mix it’s prob best to do about 4 bumbles and prob neck about 6 accompanying beers. Fuck knows how people listen to this who don’t get on it.

Well I did drink when I first listened to it. And I was home alone so could bang it out.

A bit weird, Hannu, but I guess you were on your own so fair dos.

Explains A LOT, to be fair.

Meant at a loud volume you weirdos.

alistair …milling round the sides, hand grabbing the bottom of my Bunker Sessions T-shirt, ready to pluck up the courage to pull over my head Peter Kay style and do a running bomb to a horrified Jaded Clubbers A-listers clique front and centre on the dance floor

Still awaiting my CD. I believe it has made it across the pond but no records of handoff to USPS.

What have we come to lads? Tracking the transit of a mix compilation that we’ll listen to once then throw in the bin.

A service whereby one can order a CD and track it straight to the bin without ever having to listen to the wretched thing?

I just hope Segwin has a CD player

Old-Dutch Reckon it’s been tops off in the German DHL sorting room for the last 5 days

                  Lol!

Uncle john won’t be so forthcoming with email bants, tunes, freebies and guest lists for hanners when he finds out that the absolute sexual deviant is choking his chicken and whipping his back with birch branches in his sauna, while listening to the live at fabric mix.

Listened to this over the past couple of days and it’s a solid mix. Before seeing the tracklist I was hoping he’d branch out a little like in his Bunker sets. It’s brilliantly mixed as you’d expect. No way i’d pay for it mind.

3.5 DHL parcels out of 5.

I was a bit disappointed. Ok initially, dropping to ‘bit samey’ then ’wasn’t this tune on 20mins ago?'

                  4 days later

3 weeks after shipping the CD is in Finland. Should get it today. Fuck DHL.
