Dubman judging by the size of the buildup on the border before all this started its more and more likely that Donbass was the prize all along anyway, which is what analysts have repeated since the buildup was being reported initially. There was no way they were going to take Kyiv effectively and the use of 90% conscripts shows us they were never going to be doing it full pelt and were prepared for huge losses with the fodder, taking out Zelensky would’ve been a bonus but it almost looks like a massive distraction so they could really focus on the weaker areas of Ukraine. Depending on what happens in Donbass he may or may not be able to declare a victory, that’s the litmus test for him now.
