Just got back home to Leeds. I had a fantastic time. Really great evening. Thought John was immense and it was lush being there from his opening ambient track to just after 4am when he was belting it out. It was great to see some people I’ve not seen for years (My shaved head covid cut is a fashion choice, not a necessity Benson. I can have a full head of luxurious hair thank you very much lol). The London crowd are always up for it (it seems the London drug scene is definitely still in full swing) and plenty of funny characters wandering around.

I don’t think there’s any secret sauce to him and Sasha playing better when they play in London clubs - they do the whole night so you get the several hours of build up where he’s playing really interesting stuff while slowly cranking up through the gears. Stuff you just won’t get when they do a 3 hour headliner set elsewhere in the country. It just misses so much stuff out.

The venue was alright - seemed the sound system in the main room was screwy for the first 30 mins or so of John’s set until it got sorted. There was definitely sweet spots for dancing where it sounded much better than other places. I hardly moved from the spot I found all night as a result but no bad thing. Busy but not too busy which was cool.

Room 2 was mental. Absolutely blasting it out from the opening and it never slowed down. I thought when Danny Howells came on at 2am he’d slow it down a bit but nope - he just went with it. It was the only room with any seating but definitely not the chill out room at 128+ bpm lol.

So great evening all round. Tired today but not hungover or coming down which is a result. Loved it.

Shazam says John played this around the 30 min mark but I dunno if it’s a wrong ID. I tried to shazam a few tunes throughout but this was the only one it got.

Wally but definitely not the chill out room at 128+ bpm lol

    lol

Was the night missing the one man fun machine that is Smallman1?

In the words of Soulwax, that’ll be the E Talking 😂

To be honest, it is so long since I have been in a club that I was astonished at how good and loud the sound was!!

Very bass heavy in the main rrom. But it worked.

Outside of Fabric and MOS can’t remember a good thing said about London-soundsystems. Was shocked how bad it was in XOYO the one time I came to London for Bedrock. There was a 4 square meter sweet spot on the floor, outside of that it was rough.

The End aside, the best sound-system in London is the The Box at the MOS.

        Absolutely jaw dropping.

Along_the_Wire Absofuckinglutely! Music too, as long as you claimed your spot. I have a very slurry memory of explaining my position to Ed from the EXACT location I refused to move from in the dancefloor. Of course that is unless I needed another beer, or a trip to the men’s room because my back teeth were floating.

Grant and H on the toppest of top form that night!

          Been in worse for sure.

Ed im kinda glad I didnt go now - was gonna be a last minute thing for me, i honestly would have been disappointed if i went and you’d jacked it in

Ah man, would have been great to see you as per.

Part of me was tempted but as Zackster pointed out, with the average age of attendees, I could have wiped out the entire club.

LOL. Won’t somebody think of the London drug scene! <clutches pearls>

Ed wiping the entire Bedrock floor.

“Heaven Scent was made where I live you know”

benson fair play. Last time I tried to do that was at fabric a few years back. Got fed up with people knocking into me on the dance floor and ended up leaving early. There is a general level of faff to clubbing that seems to reveal itself when you’re sober/old.

              Getting home!

To be honest for the sake of a few beers it was a lot of hassle. Might drive next time but know I’ll leave around 2.

              mono-stereo

I did mate. Nothing other than overly expensive baby Moretti beers all night. Training for the Leeds half marathon at the moment and was going out on Saturday to a gig so didn’t want to get messy.

I know I’m gonna catch flack for this but I’ve always been firmly on the ‘people say it’s the music but it really is about the drugs and getting mangled’ side of the argument but Diggers played such a good set and I was having such a good time of it, I’ve been turned around. The stars aligned or something. Cracking time, no drugs so no come down. Fresh as a daisy the next day.

That said, I’m going to renaisance in Leeds in 3 weeks and I made a new contact (sat down on the train down, mentioned I was going clubbing to the guy opposite during convo and it turned out he was going to bedrock as well - met up with him inside later on lol) who’s already agreed to sort me out for it so will be getting mangled then after the Leeds half mara 🙂

Listening to Sasha’s latest LNOE, there’s a couple of tracks that sound familiar from about 45 mins onwards. I definitely remember Diggers dropping Matthias Tanzmann & Steve Bug - Five Miles Past Midnight

Please tell your worst comedown-story again. The one that included a world wheel.

Homegrove Lol. Not spoiling my Easter Sunday by going through that one again. 😃

                Another one dropped last week.

Track in the video is Onur Özman - Lucrezia Borgia out on sum over histories

                a month later

Diggers releasing an hour of this set on this week’s transitions. 👍🏻
