My comment generally, which Grant and others seem to back up, though, is that fun parts of games (hacking and slashing through dungeons) are being replaced by mundane tasks (chores as Mono correctly calls them). This is true of ESO and many other games as well.

Yeah…how its regarded as one of the best games then is a mystery. All games have amazing graphics these days. The game you’re describing sounds like fucking hell, despite how it looks.
As Grant already pointed out, branch out with something like The Last of Us and leave that shite in the bin.

Where did I necessarily mention the graphics? When I said ‘impressive’, I meant all round impressive. I have played The Last of Us. The controls are clunky compared to Zelda, especially when you’re in the middle of a very intense fight. What pisses me off about Zelda and many other games is the mundane tasks you have to do to arrive at those great battle sequences well-armed. My comment is really “Even the best adventure games nowadays are filled with pointless, annoying shite,” which I think is fairly difficult to deny.

GTA V was, of course, close to flawless, with cut scenes done well, and no collecting shit that seemed tedious.

As you mention, GTA5, pretty much flawless in every detail yet Zelda and games like it have this massive reputation when in fact they dont even come close to Rockstar’s effort. Horses for courses etc but fuck me, cleaning capes and trying to swim up waterfalls on a full belly? OVERRATED.
