rhouses Moving to a totalitarian communist country with hardcore censorship laws (China) and moving to a religious fundamentalist country with archaic blasphemy laws (Pakistan), by choice, seems to be quite a peculiar decision to make.

I understood the point you were trying to make with that earlier anecdote, but Gu hasn’t actually moved to China - she has Chinese citizenship and represents China at the Olympics, but still very much lives in the US.

    Toboggan with tobogganing.

    Wahey!

Followed by the slalom, am sure it will be all downhill from there.

THAT’S WHY THEY CALL ME OLB.

hugopal Given that she personally met Xi Jinping prior to obtaining Chinese citizenship at 15, I wonder if Xi hasn’t secretly granted her an exemption from the Chinese anti dual citizenship law due to her being a sports star.

Or maybe she blew him off?

    Amps I’m in!

I suppose when you live on Merseyside that North Korea is still a fairly attractive alternative.

rhouses Sure. Wonder what the implications are on her earnings?

Maybe she was trying to maximise total earnings through partly appealing to audiences in both countries and thus increasing her advertising opportunities?

I wrote a letter in to jim’ll fix it to ask if the lovely Jim could fix it for me and 3 of my primary school buddies to hurtle down a bobsleigh track at 70 miles an hour on our own. Not sure why my letter wasn’t selected. Or what could have went wrong.

Feel like I missed out. On both the bobsleigh experience and Jim’s finger in my arse.

I’m assuming the Chinese will miraculously have top 3 finishes in all events this year. I’ll have my eyes on the Downhill as per.

Smallman1 Rhouses is most looking forward to the curling.

And the bobsleigh, because it sounds like ‘to bog again’.

And it’s sort of a frozen version of the log flume.

      5 days later

Why is Steve Cram suddenly the voice of curling? What the fuck has Cram got on his CV that makes him suitable for the job?

One of my running idols is Cram.

        Cheers.

Just you wait until you hear Brendon Foster do the snowboard half pipe.

No thoughts on the questionable DQs this year? Or as expected?

The British commentary teams around snowboarding appear to know next to nothing about what they’re commentating. Just heard a commentator make a right old mess of trying to explain the difference between regular and and goofy when he meant switch. Stupid cunt.

Along_the_Wire it’s that time again on the sporting calendar when we’re subjected to a British commentator absolutely butchering the (ice) hockey too. Only comparable to Sky’s coverage of the Superbowl, or when our friends across the pond try their best to talk about the Prem’. It’s just never going to be good.

ScottBailey Only comparable to Sky’s coverage of the Superbowl

Sky’s coverage of American football is excellent to be fair. Neil Reynolds knows his shit and they have a strong line-up with the likes of Shaun Gayle

Thought the Russian skater’s Cruyff turn was absolutely mustard tbf.

Along_the_Wire sure I’d be less critical if I watched all the regular season games on it. I’ve only really ever tuned in for the Superbowl when they feel obligated to have to explain every nuance of the game to all the people tuning in who wouldn’t normally watch the game.
Much prefer watching the local feeds online, even if it’s hooky.

I’ll be doing my best Alberto Tomba impression next week in Morzine.

                Hold tight for feedback!

Fatima whitbread’s running commentary of yesterday’s cross country skiing was mesmerising, to be fair to him…

I do that for Washington games and then the Super Bowl will watch the US feed as some of the ads are great. I pay for Gamepass

                      Along_the_Wire ads are great

Absolutely. ‘Real Men of Genius’, and ‘Office Linebacker’ personal favourites

All eyes on the North Korean bobsleigh team

Fuck me, the men’s halfpipe was something else. The women’s yesterday looks total shit in comparisonn

Along_the_Wire would have been a nice finish for shaun white to go out with a win but the Japanese lad was unbelievable.

Matt Briefly thought he might do it after his second run, but fucking hell -
Ayumu Hirano’s last run was sensational. Never seen another halfpipe competition get close to that kinda quality…

Matt the Japanese lad was unbelievable

His last run was basically perfect. Every landing was textbook, bar maybe the last which fast but controlled. Boss winner.

Mens and womens snowboard cross was decent too, good course which lead to lots of close finishes and crashes. Basically Mario Kart for humans.

Skiathalon on the second day was a bit of a procession, but interesting all the same. Gruelling stuff.

Also, womens 10km cross country skiing earlier in the week, only half a second in it between first and second and one tenth of a second between third and forth… and also:
