Mad_Cyril A guy at a local running shop told me the 100 miler on this course almost killed him. If this goes well it’s either the 100 km at the same race in 2024 or the Canadian Death Race as part of a relay team. 😂

Any of you lot had your bio markers tracked?

If so, which company did you go with? Did you get useful info back? Any worries about them having your info?

I’m vaguely interested in numerically observing my slow physical demise over the coming years…

Amps I’d be quite interested to get one of these done too

Can’t you both just measure your ‘little chaps’, at ease and standing to attention, every 6 months and post on the board?

    Equally depressing I’d venture

Might be taking a u-turn on magnesium, doing one pill everyday, but starting to feel like melatonin now. Tad bit groggy in the morning, and I seem to be mentally reliant on it at night. Thinking I’ll do one every other day.

Amps Any of you lot had your bio markers tracked?

    I haven’t Amps.

    Hope that helps.

What is this witchcraft you speak of Amps? Tell me more

I did go for a health check yesterday where the nurse said I was in fantastic shape.

Amps Biomarkers, as in physical health paramaters? Like heartrate, sleep cycles, VO2max, resting rate, steps, etc etc?

Apple has that data in my case.

Smallman1 was she buxom? I had a minor surgery this week and awoke from my general anaesthesia to an absolutely magnificent eastern European goddess nurse. Will never go NHS again if that’s the calibre of nurse at the Nuffield. Went all Leslie Phillips (RIP) for a moment and thanked my lucky stars it wasn’t Benson flicking through a travel mag instead.

          Lol!

Morty-C-137 Bit more than that, its usually a wide spectrum blood test for molecules and genes. So an example would be that they test for Alanine Aminotransferase is an enzyme in your liver, too much of it and your liver is goosed. They can test for all sorts, and as far as I can tell, it can be pretty useful in catching stuff / warning of stuff early on.

But, I confess, I haven’t yet done Hugo esque research into the subject, I’ve only just started reading about it, and thought I would see if anyone has any experience of it.

The drawback being that a private company has some fairly deep info on your health. You can only begin to imagine the bombardment of marketing shite that follows:

          Low T? Hursty trab ads.

Really low T? Saga holiday ads.

Really, really low T? Funeral plan ads!

Millsy Finally got the vestigial tail removed. I always thought it was ‘what made you, you’!

Might go all in and get my DNA sequenced too.

What’s the end game here, Amps? Your head in a jar on a robot body?

Millsy Your head in a jar on a robot body?

              Correct. AKA, the dream!

                Amps
Smallwand already ahead of you, prototype was posted to the flat upstairs yesterday

I think something like that already exists:

Amps Wait a minute.. what device are you wearing that constantly tracks your ALAT, ASAT and GGT? 🤣 Do yo have AIDS?

Or are you talking about just getting bloodwork done at one of these private businesses instead of via your GP?

                    Correct.

Morty-C-137 Yeah it’s a bit like getting tattooed. I start questioning my life choices, but get through it and immediately want to do it again lol.

Amps I’ve looked into this a bit, but not very seriously. To me it’s a lot of time chasing the last 1% of health, when I could be spending my time on diet, exercise, doing shit I enjoy to keep stress down, etc. I think the biggest problem with that “cutting edge” health science is that it’s not well understood enough to gain much practical value, but I’m sure that’ll change in the coming decades.

I’m hoping it might better inform how I spend my time on diet, exercise, doing shit I enjoy to keep stress down.

Had a Ruby for lunch earlier.

                          Was fandabidozi.

Amps have you ever thought about coming off Twitter to help keep your stress down?

                          Might be worth considering chief.

Smallman1 That’s what you tory shit cunts would want though, don’t look up, don’t look behind the curtain, distract yourself whilst we dismantle the country and enforce a police state… charlie don’t surf man!

                            Lol, you’re absolutely crackers!

Amps Yeah that would be the goal I guess. If you haven’t watched/listened before, I think you’d like Peter Attia’s podcast, lots of detailed science around health and longevity.

The Tories continue to sell off the countries assets, disenfranchising us all, and the Police have started to arrest journalists. Crackers maybe, but factually correct.

Amps Ah, have seen his pillars of strength thing before 👍

Amps I think it’s called the drive w/ peter attia. It’s often pretty dense, but lots of good info.
