Scott was born in Somerset, England, and grew up in a rock ‘n’ roll household.
But a chance viewing of a Jean-Michel Jarre concert on the TV in the 80s introduced him to the world of electronic music, which built foundations for the years to come.
Fantazia and Helter Skelter cassettes were regularly passed around friends in his teens, but when Carl Cox’s ‘F.A.C.T’ mix CD was put in front of him there was one track on it that changed his electronic music direction for good. That track was Cygnus X - The Orange Theme.
From there he found Pete Tong’s ‘Essential Selection’ and ‘Essential Mix’ on Radio 1 in 1998 which opened him up to the world of trance and house music. Paul Oakenfold and Sasha became instant favourite DJs.
It was at this time he got into spinning records himself when he was able to get hold of some second hand belt-driven turntables, and started hanging out at (the now closed) Rite-On records in Taunton instead of attending lessons at college.
Other DJs such as John Digweed, Danny Tenaglia, Jimmy Van M and Chris Fortier came on his radar around the year 2000 after finding Digweed’s Kiss100 show, and that’s where his love of dark, tribal beats stuck and has remained ever since.
Scott took a 10+ year hiatus from bedroom/house party DJing around 2008 and went back to his roots of rock music, but when the COVID lockdown struck he started listening to some old DJ sets again which reignited his passion for buying and playing house music.
He’s since been recording regular monthly mixes for his Mixcloud page which can be found at www.mixcloud.com/djscottbailey

Gonna try and check this out Scott - sounds good.

Your ‘bio’ is weirdly similar to mine. I was also born in Somerset and later lived and worked in Taunton. I know Rite-On well. They used to get loads of unusual import tunes. Occasionally went to Deller’s Wharf 😅 and the place round the corner (I forget its name) that Marc Vedo used to run. In those days, I mainly used to go to Lakota and other places in Bristol/SW. Used to get a lot of tunes from Bang Bang back in the day.

ArchimedesQ Cygnus X - The Orange Theme.

A man after my own heart. I used to listen to this track relentlessly. Carl Cox’s ‘F.A.C.T’ had a big influence on me too.

whatever awesome! Yeah Simon at Rite-On was a top lad. Miss that shop a lot. Like you, got a load of vinyl from Bang Bang is Bristol too. Were some quality record stores on Park St back in the day.
Can’t say I did a ton of clubbing in Bristol. I used to jump on the train to London more often than not to go to Fabric, The End and The Cross.
The only night in Bristol I did get into in Bristol was Empathy at Timbuk2. Stuart Wilkinson and Jim Rivers are top lads and shame I’ve lost contact with them. Stu got some quality DJs into that venue!

Scott took a 10+ year hiatus from bedroom/house party DJing around 2008 and went back to his roots of rock music…..Def Leppard 🤘🏻

Dan damn straight! 😁 It was a full on gigging spree of 80s rock bands the likes of Al’ has nightmares about 😅
