I agree with the concept of leveraging pressure on the energy companies to reset the position with respect to the energy price hike and because it will send a message similar to what happened with the Poll Tax. I’ve heard previously that civil disobedience is a possible outcome from this situation. It could be a way of swinging the pendulum in the other direction.
On the other hand, surely the problem with it is that if you don’t pay, they simply cut off your gas and electric supply? As winter draws closer, I’m pretty sure it would test the resolve of most people. Plus, if you are in arrears, would they not just send in the bailiffs and you ultimately end up with a massive bill to pay? Could be a charter for vulturous debt collection agencies.
I’m not sure what position to take on it.
