  • The whole energy crisis thing

Hursty He’s also advocating using less gas to teach Putin a lesson - so you know, it’s our patriotic duty, or something.

Hursty we’re on £8 a day currently for gas and electricity combined. That’s with the gas central heating on for about 4 hours a day.

It was £2 a day earlier this year.

Used 60kWh of gas yesterday. Mind you that is with the mrs home who has no idea of controlling energy use. Less than 20 today and I’ve been in th house most of the day.

Last November we used 2389 kWh of gas. This November (to yesterday) 1154 so projected about 1600. All about reducing use now. Its not even the cost thing for me. We should not be wasting stuff when it is short supply.

£210 for month to 20/11/22 (so £7 / day)

I’m averaging between £12 to £15 a day for both and that’s with cut backs.

Grant has had to turn his hot tub temp down and Alistair has had to sell one of his horses. Tough times.

No idea but we have the heating on all day when wfh. I like to be warm

My bill is due next week, can’t wait for that.

Only put the heating on last weekend , so hopefully shouldn’t be too drastic.

Flaresy must be forever topping up his key meter at the Londis.

I think the pandemic sped up a lot things drastically but the main thing seems to be just rinsing every consumer/customer or whatever, of anything, for the same service or product, or worse.

As an aside, the other thing is prices going up anyway ‘in line with inflation’. Why? Inflation is a measure in itself, not an excuse to profiteer, just because ‘inflation’.

No-one has mentioned energy suppliers and tariffs have they? Though I’ve only read the last good few posts. Anyway, I’m hoping this thread will tease out a bit of info about the size of the mansions/basements we all dwell in.

ehitach2 just had my latest statement. We are with Octopus. Gas is 14p per kwh and a standing charge of 26 pence daily. Electric is 64p day / 24p night and a standing charge of 35 pence daily.

In March 2021 those figures were gas 2.4p per kwh and 17p daily, and electric was 16p day rate / 8.7p night and a daily charge of 20.6p daily

So in 20 months the gas price has gone up sixfold, and electric has gone up fourfold.

Riveting Friday morning reading lads I know!

The gains are similar to the crypto market, what a complete joke

Families must really be struggling, coupled with high fuel/food costs, surely this must end in complete disaster?

Smallman1 I have the heating on and open the windows. It’s a crazy life I’m leading

gcw Are you not also getting a 4p / kWH rebate on the gas? The bills are not very clear

Hursty Don’t mean to be rude Hursty but Ive just checked and a year ago BTC was nearly $59k and now it’s $16k. I think you mean that the prices are equivalent to the falls in the crypto market.

                Smallman1

My flat is like the Copacabana warmth wise.

Barry Manilow blaring, you dressed up in your showgirl outfit with a troupe of men, tops off, attempting to plug the holes in your roof so you can stay warm?

benson I am yes. Was just highlighting the gross cost without a rebate

For gas I’m getting a 4p credit per kwh, and for electricity I’m getting a 22p and 10p credit per day/night kwh respectively.

gcw Im on 5p at night and 13.6p during the day for electricity. Have to say it is going to be a massive shock when that goes up

Millsy Grant has had to turn his hot tub temp down

I’m using it as an excuse to berate the missus and kids for wasting energy - it’s quite a pleasant sport.
