If you can stomach higher road tax and donât do a lot of miles, there are some lovely cars that come up. S4 4.8 V8 for ÂŁ4K ? 6 series convertible for ÂŁ6K? Lovely stuff. I got a 4.2 SC RRS from them a few months back for ÂŁ5K and its a beast.
I feel like the Govât will try and eradicate these types of cars via even higher road tax and fuel duty, pushing people into electric cars. My in laws have an electric car and shit themselves every time they go on a long trip as they know charging outside the home is (a) expensive and (b) a roll of the dice to get onto a charger. Weâve definitely put the cart before the horse on this whole electric car push.
The irony for me is making a new electric car has far more environmental damage vs running an older car as a weekend runabout/doing 3K miles a year. The Govât may introduce a tax per mile scheme, but i reckon they will still want to kill off v6s / v8s etc. I feel sorry for people doing a lot of miles being forced into electric cars that are unreliable and a ball ache to charge on the go.
