The current situation we have is we’re claiming to be making strides towards net zero by offsetting the emissions required for creating energy / oil / gas whilst importing them. When you factor in the emissions for transportation of the energy sources you’re creating more emissions overall than if you were producing the energy yourself. It’s completely dishonest slight of hand bullshit.
I’m all for achieving net zero but it’s a fucking long way off and we’re putting the cart before the horse.
First thing we should be doing is building sufficient storage capability and using our own natural resources. Develop greener methods for mining, extraction, creation of energy, whilst in parallel developing greener energy.
Buying it in from elsewhere whilst celebrating you’re cutting your emissions is whitewashing / greenwashing bollocks
