Yeh as long as thick cunts have a say there’s always a chance. See brexit.
Note rhousesesque ‘My boi’ bellend thinking of himself there while the country literally falls apart around him. He’ll be safe in his mansion with his nanny not giving a fucking shite that poverty is right outside his front door. But as long as he gets little Sanjay and Gita to finishing school on time that’s all that really matters.

I’ve never understood these people who will only vote for a certain party no matter what state the country is in. I’m starting to despise every Tory voter which is not good on my part. As for the so called pay rises for the public sector workers is insult. Just hoping the Junior doctors keep standing there ground.

Dubman there’s talk of the juniors withdrawing from all out of hours work.

If I cover a night shift that’s nearly a week of clinical work I miss. We have 2 juniors on call every night in anaesthetics.

Every week of that is about 10 weeks of consultant time lost.

    Or a massive wage bill.

It’s only when you leave and look at it from a distance you realise what a fucking shit joke of a country it has become. Thick cunts like you, Edwand voted for its demise.
It’s true about drs too, my Dr rang me up last week to tell me he had read an article I’d be interested in . I said to my Mrs at the time, imagine that happening in England? Also I can get to see my Dr easily within a few days and if I want another Dr I’d get in on the same day. Same with xray, ultrasound CT and MRI. Same day. See any specialist with a referral usually within a week to a month or so depending on your severity. You honestly have zero idea how bad it’s become until you see what you get elsewhere.

Get fucked you were. You might try to deny it now but you flipped after getting leathered about it at the time. It’s irrelevant anyway as you voted the bastards in who actioned it.

Yeh Medicare is free. Specialists a couple of 100 if you don’t want to wait but then you get a rebate of around 30-40% sometimes more. But if you want completely free a month or so if not urgent. Urgent you’d be fast tracked, all free. All scans free if referred but if you cant get referred for say an MRI which is the last of the imaging trail and not all drs like using it, you can just pay and its not too much and again you get a large rebate. If I went in to my Dr and said I hurt my foot today he would write an x-ray referral and I could literally walk out of the door, across the road and get it done there and then for free. Around a 30 min wait for x-ray. Ultrasound and CT also free within a day or so.

Healthcare you pay for is better than state provided healthcare shocker.

Still can’t cure being a thicket it would seem.

Do like Marina, especially after serving the life out of that lurchio cunt Mogg the other week on the telly. Plus she’s a bit of a sort.

Cankles-McJeggings Oh god really. Julia serves one purpose in life and that is to serve Julia. She runs an organisation called everydoctor and recently called out MPs for their connections to private health care. Except one of the everydoctor team does quite a lot of private work and even whinges on a private forum about how BUPA do not pay enough.

        I would massively swerve.

Haha too late. It’s a decent read but not something I’d usually read even if it’s only for the histrionics. It just caught my eye and I was bored. Although to be fair I suppose you know all the ins and out first hand as opposed to someone like moi who isn’t au fait with it all it’s still an eye opener reading the way it’s been decimated over the years no matter who’s been in government. Its total mismanagement under labour too, even though expenditure was the most it’s ever been in the decade they were in power. So badly mismanaged the money pumped into it just got pissed up the wall. So they are partly to blame. What the Tories have done is shocking though.
I doubt I’m telling you anything you don’t know all the same. Chronic understaffing, increased workload and bureaucracy, years of demoralising pay erosion and unsavoury pension taxation rules have made it almost impossible to stop the drain of the top Drs to guess where? Yep ’Stralia ! Cheers 🍻

I completely agree. The productivity issues I see in operating theatres make me so angry. I want to go to work to do work. We start late, can’t find kit etc etc. The reason people try to run it like a business to try and make it more productive. That is not a bad thing.

I could go to work and do 50% more every day, but the support isn’t there. I expect there to be an operational issues with every single case I anaesthetise. Something missing, somebody late, some team member not there, some IT issue etc etc.

But Julia is not the person to fix any of that. Of that I am sure

I can’t really see what she would gain from it other than whistle blowing? You’re obviously in the know with how hypocritical she is being. Add making a few quid out of a book and damaging an already beyond repair tory government, what else is she doing it for? Or is that all she’s doing it for?

benson I had a stay overnight in hospital last month. There was one junior doctor covering the ward I was on, as well as the A&E when needed. He started at 8pm and when I spoke to him about 1am (when he admitted me) he said that he was on until 8am - so a 12 hour shift.

I then saw him at 10.30am and I asked him why he was still there. He said he had a few things to do but when pressed, he said he honestly didn’t know when he’d be able to go but ‘hoped it would be soon’. Felt for the lad - he was so professional and polite as well, absolutely trying his best for his patients.

I don’t know what the answer is to the NHS problems, but I know that it isnt sustainable in its current form.

gcw In my day we did Mon-Thurs 9-5 (really 0830-1800ish) and starting that Friday night I’d do 2100-Midday. I was lucky, It was a lewisham and I lived right near by.

When I started as a junior anaesthetist it was 7×13 hours shifts (4 days / 3 nights) 4 days off and then another 91 hour week.

It was fucking brutal but it meant that i worked in a team, i knew the people I worked with and in the weeks when i was not doing that (the nights were 1 week in 7) I knew i had time off.

Nowadays with all the restrictions, people only do 2-3 long shifts at a time. Teams are constantly changing, you spend more time handing over than catching up than doing actual work. There is no team structure, people are commuting miles and driving super tired.

It is a far less enjoyable experience.

I still do night shifts when the juniors cannot. (strikes or the like). They are pretty harsh. And I do not have the overhead of needing to ask for permission or help.

It’s not just the clinical side of the NHS that’s being privatised. Being in the logistics game I do a fair amount of work the NHS. Although I get my work off a bigger company who then puts it on a bidding platform for which I’m a member of. Now I charge per mile but the main company is making loads out of me. So it’s costing the NHS loads of money each day. So when every government says where spending more money in the NHS. I can see where some of it is going.

Dubman This is the problem. More money is not the answer, more productive working and better value per £ spent is. But saying that is akin to heresy.

                benson
My father works in logistics in the NHS. I sometimes do the exact same work he does but I’m paid a lot more money than he does. So much so that I feel embarrassed what I earn for doing the same job. If only the NHS would employ more drivers and pay them more money they wouldn’t need to get private contractors in. They also use a private company that cleans the surgical instruments they use in operations. Why can’t be done in house. I even move surgical instruments from a NHS hospitals to private hospitals

Dubman There is a lot of sharing of equipment between NHS and private. When I was doing 2 days of private orthopaedics a month, about half the patients were NHS patients getting their care in the private sector In many ways I ave no issue with that. What I get upset about as you point out, is where the same job attracts different rates for public vs pruvate sector. Mind you I have senior managerial role within a major private hospital group (a safety role rather than anything to do with money).

                    benson
That does make sense regarding the sharing of instruments.
I had a conversation with a customer regarding why he has so much work from the NHS at the moment. It simple he said. They can’t retain their staff.

Dubman If only the NHS would employ more drivers and pay them more money they wouldn’t need to get private contractors in.

This is the Tory dream though, they created a market place within the NHS and their mates are still getting rich from it, hence you have cases like the contractor charging £70,000 for door, that forty years ago would have been done by an in house caretaker for little over cost.

                      Amps
It’s absolutely bonkers as they know full well that things will need to be done.

Does the NHS need any biz tranz’ing?

If yes, my day rate is £15k a day.

Decent cat scrap going down today here. Low blows the lot. Some of the comments are class.

Along_the_Wire I was thinking that, there are still many people who must think they are either doing a good job or hate everything to with Labour regardless

To be fair, isn’t that seat a proper Tory cesspit anyway?

They also reckon ulez may have had big part in it.

Along_the_Wire absolute shit show. Watched a voxpop from Uxbridge on politics Joe the other day and there was the usual stream of bring back Boris cunts, ’Petronella’s school fees will increase under Labour’ and ’they’re all the same anyway’ brigade. Hopeless.
