Dubman My pay was 35% better in real terms. Lots of investment but probably not as much value for money as there could have been. We need 10bn of infrastructure just to repair existing buildings across the NHS. We have buckets permanently in the corridor and we used to have old poo coming up through the floor.
We muddle along because we have normalised it. The staff are demoralised. I’ve no doubt we could all work harder but no-one feels they owe anybody anything.
Mind you I did a shift on laour ward last night. Put in 3 epidurals and 3 very happy women.
Also I found a lump in my balls 4 weeks ago. E-Consult with my GP. She referred me for an ultrasound. Had it done in a nice out of town place yesterday evening before work. All good. Nothing to worry about and the NHS delivered. Even if my GP examined me she still would have sent me for an ultrasound. TBH I think it’s been a pretty smooth and quick experience.
