LT42 Speaking mostly for people in my area of the country, which is the deindustrialised, small town North West, people are voting Tory because they are so repelled by the seemingly metropolitan obsessions of the Labour Party nowadays. They seem them totally wrapped up in internecine conflict over Corbyn, trans rights and so on.
An ‘old Labour’ party that was somewhat redistributive, funded public services properly, but was small c conservative, strong on law and order (basically the Methodist rather than Marxist Labour tradition) would have absolutely cleaned up outside London.
