We’ve cancelled our summer holiday to Croatia (deposit on the balance is due on Monday, but fucked if I’m going to part with 3k if there’s no guarantee we’ll be allowed in or if anything will be open) but hoping to get to the States if it’s still there come October.

:

…6-weeks leave starting next Wednesday 🙂

Just the small matter of sourcing a new career while I’m at it

Homegrove Your situation is hopeless without a French-style revolution

Because it meant that France is now as socialist as Scandinavia?!

The way work is going at the moment I’ll have no business by the end of the summer unless things pick up. So I won’t be going back to India.

Summer holiday for me is getting back to work, which I finally did yesterday. Nice to be doing something, anything, again. Plus I get an additional 8 hours of vacation down the road for every week worked. I’ll take it.

Everything I booked got cancelled skiing, Ibiza, Malaga , Glastonbury and Lisbon I hate covid

    Loveland in Amsterdam got postponed.

Gutted, both Dixon and Sasha were on the line up.

Its not cheap taking a family of four on flights during the summer holidays.

We’ve bumped the holiday til next year instead.

FabiParas we cancelled our Croatia hols this summer or rather Ryanair cancelled the flights first so forced the decision.
Think ours was £900 for flights and self catering Villa was £2k for 14 nights, all based on a family of 4.

Head to a resort or hotel and the price escalates very quickly!

Yep, we’re not quite at the self catering / villa stage.

What’s everyone’s situation with holiday allocation?

I carried over 6 from last year so I could have a bumper year with it being my 50th (what a cunt this year has turned out to be), I’ve used 3 on a cycle training camps, 3 doing nothing and extending bank holidays. I’ve got 30 left and can only have 15 left by 1st September. I’ve got to take 15 days off in this shitty time by the end of August. I’m pretty fucked off.

I’ve got to take about 20 days by end of September. Can carry over 7.

Didn’t have any holidays planned so isn’t too big a deal. The situation is helping me pay off all of last year’s over spending

Work for myself, but in a bit of a weird spot.

Have a pretty good contract, the kind that don’t come around very often, so keen to make the most of it.

But work is draining as all over the phone whilst balancing home / schooling / family during the day.
Need a break, I can feel it. Problem is, not really much of a break to be had at the minute, so feels more financially optimal to work.

Guess the only good thing is that I’m rebillble for my client, so not under any pressure to have time off during the crisis, and free to do so if it all clears up.

Feel more for perm colleagues who have been either stipulated leave or asked to consider reduced hours.

Probably just going to keep my head down for as long as possible.

We can carry over 15 days next year apparently. Been working flat out recently. Had a couple of meltdowns too if the truth be told too.

Wasnt in a good place on Wednesday.

FabiParas Been the same mate, hang tough.

Went out for a long walk over my golf course with the Daughter on Thursday after feeling the same. Was tremendous for both of us mentally, amazing what a bit of quality time outdoors can do for you.

FabiParas Fuck me, that’s some perk.

I’ve been working like a bastard and am really struggling and definitely need to take an extended break sometime soon. It just feels like such a waste taking it now.

My missus has been great. She makes sure we get out the house for long family walks daily. But, she also has her moments. Feels that she is doing all the house stuff and we’re not getting enough quality time together as there’s nowhere to dump the kids.

Plus, the economic outlook plays on her job prospects, return to normality, not getting to see her family etc and its fucking hard all round at times. [Bleeding heart Middle Class Liberal Tears 😉]

Cycling helps first thing, but a lot of it is proper hard training, so even that is pain in the arse. Every now and again, I’ll just get up and go for a walk - that definitely works.

Missus is allowing us all a takeaway to be delivered for only the third time during lock-down tonight - curry. Can’t wait.

Curry too tonight! Looking forward to that no end!
