Crewe as big a shit hole as it is now, is home to Rolls Royce, Bentley, Vickers and the train works responsible for all the Coronation class steam engines. Crewe was pivotal in world war 2 and the Germans tried for years to bomb it because of that. All the Spitfire’s and Hurricane Merlin engines were made there and all the ships and submarine engines were made at Vickers there too.
