…down altogether now?
Learned a valuable lesson with Beatport the other day. I recently got lazy not backing up my files onto another harddrive, so when I accidentally dropped and broke my USB stick, I lost 6 months of music and had to rebuy it all! Not going to buy from Beatport/Juno/Traxsource again unless absolute necessary. Bandcamp was a saviour for some of the music as I could redownload what I’d purchased from them.
Lesson learned.
ScottBailey Surely you can redownload purchases ypu’ve made?
SM001 no mate
SM001 nope, you can only download once. You can email them to argue your case, but once you’ve downloaded it once, it just shows in your history as purchased. No function to redownload, unless that’s changed this week.
You can, its all in your account history
Blimey….they must have changed it.
Cheers MC
Like Juno they give a days Grace to download the file again.
I’ve checked my account and of the few hundered tracks i’ve purchased I only have the option to redownload 3. Not good.
SM001 defo learn from my mistake. If you do buy from them, make sure you duplicate onto another drive, incase one breaks. Thankfully it was only 6 months worth I hadn’t backed up. Everything before that I had.
Hmm.
Have never had a problem redownloading. Might have had to email (juno??), but never been an issue.
Obviously there’s different circumstances, but the backup advice is more than wise 👍
I do it monthly. Easy to remember when you do it on or around the first of month. With buying everything I can as lossless my music laptop is always full anyway, so need to make space.
Bandcamp is the way forward with its files all the same price, however some artists can sometimes remove a track at times….not often but overall it’s a better interface and better standard of music files.
Not the same price. Artists can name it. The Zeta Reticula-track on my new mix was 5 €. And only available in BC on digital.
So… half my preorders e.g. Glowal EP that should have been available today and received emails saying they were available have not appeared in the downloads section. Suggest cross-checking any preorders you’ve made with what appears in the folder as you may be missing out on quite a bit of stuff.
You can’t trust Beatport with the exclusives anymore. They might say a track is available from there only for a week or two, but I’ve checked and half can be bought from Bandcamp too without waiting. For example the new Rumors and Permanent Vacation-releases today.
I dont know why but I always got the feeling that Beatport was run by choads like Matt Gaetz, coked up to the eyeballs backstage at Coachella and telling anyone who’ll listen how great the latest Endo mix is. Basically clueless parasitic wankers out for one thing only, bags of cash.
LT42 Well, it was owned by Hawtin originally, so not too far wide of the mark.
The website has gone to shit. I can’t trust it anymore.
SM001 Why I don’t stay logged in on BP despite telling their site that I would like to remain logged in (Safari MacBook Air) is mystifying.
segwin been the same for me for years.
I’ll say now that UKeySoft is quite the Software tool. Still buy a bulk of my tracks from BP & BC if their is a goal of keeping them in my RecordBox for longer than a year.
