ScottBailey it’s gone?!? Surely it’s BACK! All the top prog DJs in the late 90s used to say this island is 99% perfect, it’s just missing a Greggs to get an early morning sausage roll, and then it would be perfect.

Such sad news to hear of Liquid’s Eamon Downes passing. ‘Sweet Harmony’ remains my favourite rave anthem and it was the tune that got me into raving when I was a teenager. R.I.P

Dubman I can imagine. Such a brilliant track with that cool middle-8 section and that classic massive piano riff - nothing’s ever beaten it in my book. Plus I loved how Liquid were producing music like that and yet they still had that ‘we are a band’ feel to what they were doing rather than a ‘one man band’ mixing/performing. They always had such great energy on stage and it’s awesome hearing your memory about them playing that track at least twice at raves - it was certainly worthy of being played multiple times as it was such an immense track and clever musically so never got boring. Hope it makes a revival being played more at future events now. Something tells me it will be.

I don’t recall seeing them live but I do remember everyone I knew bought the record. You can just see j1-2 years later it that sound decended into happy hardcore which was the death of the rave scene.

Dubman I hear you. The only vaguely passable happy hardcore in my music collection is that section of ‘Out Of Space’ by The Prodigy that goes crazy! Beyond that, I agree with you, it was a downward spiral on that genre’s front imho. Sweet Harmony was definitely in a different league.
