Just read that Kelvin Kiptum died in a car accident today along with his coach. Probably would have been the first sub 2 hour marathoner. Awful to go at that age.
The RIP thread
Yep, will smash out a 5k tomorrow in his honour.
RIP.

zackster Yeah this shit is scary and could very easily catch anyone of us out.
Recently a bloke from the UK went to Florida with his wife and kids. She went to bed and he stayed in the bar for a few beers. He was found dead the next morning, having done a line of charlie contaminated with fentanyl.
Problem is how powerful fentanyl is in tiny doses and how easy it is for dealers to cross contaminate coke or anything else they’re selling.
Smallman1 gutted! On radio’s Mt Rushmore. RIP
mono-stereo sorry to hear. Wasn’t a friend of yours, hopefully. Again, testing strips are available online. BUY and USE them .

Was it this incident, 40 year old IT worker?
ehitach2 Yeah that’s the one. Very sad.
Another sad one. Orginal theory was they nodded off outside and froze to death, having taken what they thought was coke.
Poor man and the young family. Quite the sobering incident but really, what was this bloke doing and thinking?

ehitach2 Pissed up and offered a line off someone he got chatting to at the bar? I could see how it might play out.
Exactly. But it’s a no, especially under those circumstances if it were me. I’ve been wary of getting anything from anyone I don’t know personally.
Seems he got a cab somewhere to just go out and score anyway.
Anyway very strange and very sad.

Careful with that too, when the issue is cross contamination in microgram quantities, it’s basically impossible to know what is laced and what isn’t, even with testing.
I won’t touch a thing these days, just not worth the risk.

Where are you both getting that info from? Not doubting it, but strangely all the main news articles on the incident are leaving all that stuff out and just saying he was “poisoned” (which although could be seen as trying to be less intrusive on the grieving family, is actually quite irresponsible from the press from a danger prevention point of view).
Hugo’s going into the weeds!
hugopal to be fair, you asked that in your first sentence - 8 words long. The other 54 words could be considered going into the weeds.
LOL
