Had a great run of films in the 80’s. Kiss of a Spiderwoman and Broadcast news were my fave two performances although, he was memorable in History of Violence. Body Heat was also a fun film

Probably my favorite of his. Great flick and holds up.
Gorky Park
zackster Kathleen Turner 🔥👌
Never seen Big Chill. Might be an idea to rent it tonight. Blockbuster has it at 2,90 €.
Homegrove Blockbuster has it at 2,90 €.
I thought they went bust years ago

My mrs favorite movie
They’re now a streaming renting service. Or someone bought the name.
zackster William Hurt
Damn. Excellent and underrated actor. Broadcast News is an all timer for me. Big Chill is up there as well.
jonattonyeah underrated actor
He was nominated for best actor three times and won it once ffs!
…yeah, was thinking about the crocodile tears scene when I heard the news. Great film.
zackster
Yeah but he doesn’t seem to be talked about it the same way Jack, Pacino, or Deniro are. And maybe he’s not at that level. I dunno. But he was one of the best of his generation.
jonattonyeah I’d argue he was a better actor than they are. Those guys were often playing variations of themselves as entertaining as they were. Their cool charisma made them more iconic
Between Alien and The Elephant Man for me. RIP
Millsy wait what?
alistair
Agreed. Hurt never quite had that truely iconic role like a Scarface or a Raging Bull or a One Flew. He just nailed part after part after part. Broadcast News is an incredible film but it’s not exactly in the zeitgeist when people bring up ’80’s movies.
He was robbed for History of Violence. Completely crushed that one.
zackster he was in the movie for about 5 minutes and stole it. HOW CAN YOU FUCK THAT UP?!
jonattonyeah for once, the Oscars called it right. Got three successive best actor noms in the mid to late 80’s which is going some

Probably because Commando blew it out the water.
Homegrove because George Cloony was getting that Oscar no matter what. Total bullshit.
Smallman1
That’s not fair to William Hurt.
Commando and Cobra are masterpieces.
That’s like getting angry at a basketball player for not being Michael Jordan.
