Yeah I was going to mention the keynote speech that he gave recently when he mentioned about not rejoining SM/CU.
I initially felt disappointed when I heard it but when I thought about it a bit more, I realised it would be a fairly easy pivot (if they won the next GE). Labour could say, “it’s been x no. years since we left the EU, I was committed to making it work but given the extent of the damage on the economy, I see no alternative but to explore rejoining the SM/CU”.
By that point, I think that things will be so fucked and the damage of Brexit obvious that what he said will be a distant memory.
As Hugo referenced, and along the lines of what you said about people who will keep denying, you just can’t ignore 17m voters even if some of them are morons that won’t accept reality.
