Although he was rather (only briefly) cancelled for supposedly being very handsy with people at a few gigs in quick succession. Not sure if the kettle thing was just some additional tidbit chucked on that makes things sound even worse, or to distract from the other stuff.

All years and years ago, with no police charges having gone against him. Just reads like yet another coordinated attempt to take someone down by some people with axes to grind, with the hope that by chucking lots of salacious sounding information together it will cloud people from the fact that there’s likely no smoking gun for any of it.

During a relationship that lasted for about three months when Brand was a BBC radio presenter, she says that he referred to her as “the child” and alleges that he became increasingly controlling, and then emotionally and sexually abusive.
Brand, then 30, sent a car to her secondary school to take her out of lessons and to his home, she says, and asked her to save his name in her phone as “Carly” to deceive her parents.

Having just watched Channel 4 news I actually feel sorry for Brand. I’m not a fan either. I do feel strongly that unless he’s actually convicted of a crime this is allegation at present and shouldn’t be the main news story or even in the news at all, as it will potentially undermine any proper investigation of which I don’t think there was any mention as whether there even is one.
Amazing that not one single Epstein pedo client has been arrested let alone charged, but Russell Brand is about to get both barrels

There is not, and seems unlikely to be when the accusers have conveniently chosen to remain anonymous and no official complaints have been filed.
The rape accusation in the US will also probably be outside the statute of limitations.
The BBC article states that:
“The Sunday Times said all the women felt ready to speak only after being approached by reporters.”
Which sounds quite “predatory” in itself - some reporters were keen for a story and did what they could to find and create one.
It’s not very difficult to see when the aims aren’t “justice” but slander.

gcw Whether any of it is true or not, his mainstream career is over.
Two things on this - firstly even the attitude of assuming that mere accusations will be enough to wreck a career is part of the problem; such a chain of thinking should not be normalised.
Second, Brand has spent recent years being very critical of mainstream media anyway, so such days were probably already in the past. I do wonder if this story was intended as a bit of revenge for that by some.

Brand has always been a sex pest and his behaviour has been indulged and excused by the mainstream media over many years. The question is why now?
