                What “legit poll” is this then? As I’ve posted before the seemingly most legit polling to regularly be undertaken and reported - by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (which is part of the nonpartisan globally led Arab Barometer research network that counts the likes of Princeton and the University of Jordan as its organisers) - has had support for Hamas at basically always above 50%.

                  Except Hamas want to create an Islamic Palestinian state (ruled by them) , while israel does not want a large Palestinian state which threatens their existence. Where Israel may have seen some benefit to the existence of Hamas it will have probably been in keeping Palestine destabilised and divided, as the Palestinian Authority and Hamas are unable to work together.
