It’s all gravy but I am in a Wetherspoons on a Sunday night. It’s not the worst place I’ve been at 2200 on a Sunday night. But I feel like my recovery will be slower than where I was 10 years ago.

    Where would that be then?

hugopal Miles from home, last train rapidly approaching and knowing you have to get back to the sticks after a weekend in London.

TBF I only had 1 pint. Utterly grim. I have noticed that everywhere round here that is half decent seems to close much earlier now leaving the drinking factories like spoons to mop up the people who can’t or won’t go home.

My Mrs is approaching a year without any booze at all. After witnessing some of the clientele last night I can see the benefits

benson in London the spoons is one of the few places you can still get an old fashioned creamy pint of bitter as opposed to the pale ale embalming fluid and other trendy antiseptic offerings which have (quite liderally mate) flooded the market.

Love a Spoons, £2.66 for a pint of bitter.

Or winning as I like to call it.

baggers44 lol! where are the creamy, nutty pints of yesteryear to be had ?

CAMRA is still a thing, right? It should be pretty simple to search for CAMRA pubs.

On this site for instance you can just tick the ‘serves real ale’ box. I put in a London postcode and loads came up.

baggers44 dive into the pale ales, there are plenty of cracking beers out there - swerve piss like Neckoil and try New England pale ales like Siren

Smallman1 Love a Spoons, £2.66 for a pint of bitter.

And a free swim in a canal to go with it.

Didn’t;t realise we had load of real ale beardies on here. CAMRA cards at the ready

I’m not a huge real ale fan but I went to one of those many years back and it was a good laugh.

A few friends and I had just moved in to a new houseshare and it coincided with our first week. We went there to celebrate and had the idea to walk around only drinking all the beers that had an ABV of about 9%+. The next morning I genuinely couldn’t remember how we got back to the house, but I think I somehow managed to stay vomit-free.

Massive real fan but only drink it up north, the south have zero idea about what a good ale is

hugopal I’ve been to a few before, when we were younger they seemed a good place to get massively shit faced on strong and cheap booze. I remember one year also eating far too many chilli pickled eggs aswell. My guys were in pieces for days
