Old-Dutch Does anyone seriously believe this will result in cheaper energy for the consumer?
Possibly. Some of the community wind energy schemes are reducing bills. But, for the most part it’s like the fusion debate; you could crack it tomorrow, but no cunt who owns an energy firm is gonna go 'I’m tired of my wealth that I derived from this closed market I’ve created, I think I’ll jack in my monopoly and give it all away for almost free'. These are the same people who had Kennedy shot for slightly raising taxes on steel, they wouldn’t give you the steam off their piss. Devolving energy locally is about the best route, something that has worked in Hawaii, our equivalent would probably be small local thorium reactors, or a mix of local renewables.
