RichM what a load of shite.

So, considering how much time and effort the political classes / Tories have spent trying to enrich the middle classes by selling off the countries resources, why do you think they would stop there? Why wouldn’t big tax cuts be aimed at boosting the banks balances of the bourgeoisie? Or do you think that the country is poor for another reason other than tax cuts for big companies? Or do you think the country is brewstered and the government just doesn’t want to spend any of it on anything?

Amps it’s a load of shite as non of those things specifically occur to enable each of those companies to pay no / less tax.

Apparently the judge for Luigi Mangione’s case is married to a former healthcare executive and has untold stock in the healthcare industry.

RichM non of those things specifically occur to enable each of those companies to pay no / less tax.

Lol, I’d forgotten about this. You need to see a direct paper trail for there to be cause and effect? Can someone explain to Rich how FIAT works!

Amps it’s embarrassing why that situation is allowed to play out. If they are not prepared to answer that question, just fucking say it. That make a mockery by spewing that bollocks

Amps hotel receptionist getting it all wrong there. You wouldn’t get that at a Premier Inn

Amps as long as it keeps the heating bills down in all for it!

Hursty Sure, but be aware the food shortages and mass migration of half the planet may have a knock on effect to the snooker coverage.

Along_the_Wire Sort of what I imagine the JC Christmas meet ups to look like.

Amps I’m not sure it will

              Hursty Fingers crossed eh!

Amps what’s the biggest action you take to reduce your climate impact on a yearly basis?

Hursty posting shit on here probably

                    RichM I was wondering!

I think most people do what they can to reduce their climate impact where applicable but feel aggrieved when the over-hyped bullshit is touted as a direct attack on them and their lifestyles

Most places in Europe are light years ahead of the rest of the world where no-one gives a shit

Hursty Choosing to not have children, I haven’t taken a flight anywhere in over five years, the house is insulated to within an inch of it’s life, I eat organic when I can / it makes sense, I try and buy ethical clothing, but it’s a nightmare, and as such I try to just consume less, haven’t bought any trabs for a few good years now, I’m just wearing the collection I have.

Haven’t sorted an ethical bank yet, and haven’t gone all in on the solar panels, but that is because I’ve been looking to move house since before covid, and it just hasn’t happened for a bunch of different reasons.

I try and buy as much clothes from ethical clothing brands as I can. It’s easy for t shirts, jumpers, hoodies and underwear. Not so much for everything else though.
The insulation thing surely everyone does as it’s just a way of keeping you home warmer for less money, regardless of any climate benefit?
I do try and consume less stuff, and more conscious on food I buy and its packaging. I always recycle everything (even though it prob all goes to landfill anyway, but at least I’ve tried)
I wouldn’t stop flying for the climate, but would get a train instead if it’s a) not massively overpriced b) not massively increasing travel time. So that kind of limits where I would use train over plane!

                          Live genocide:

Amps I realise it is selfish. But try and do my bit elsewhere. Hopefully the airlines can improve things over time so they are not causing as much of a climate impact.

Good luck with that one, lol

Amps sounds like you are “going for it”, kudos to your attempts to minimise impact on the world, hopefully it helps reduce your climate anxiety so you can enjoy life as well!

If you’re not having kids then why do you even give a flying fuck what the climate will be like for future generations?!?!

Imagine caring about the future of other people besides your own family you stupid fucking bastard.

Homegrove Imagine caring about the future of other people besides your own family you stupid fucking bastard.

If you think that having kids is a bad thing, then why would you support and care for the kids other people are having?

Because otherwise it’s like Amps saying that he doesn’t think it’s morally right that he should drive a gas-guzzling 4×4, yet he encourages other people to do so, applauds them when they do, and even buys them a nice air freshener and some new tires as a gift so they have a more pleasant journey.

There is something that Hugo has said which sort of makes sense (I think). Amps has chosen not to have kids as a rationale for what he is doing to protect the planet. Yet based on his views of me flying and he doesn’t, must also suggest that anyone who has kids (ie opposite of what he is doing) aren’t making the right choices for our planet? Am I on the right path here?

But if we all do the same as Amps, as he clearly thinks he lives his life in a positive way to our planet / society, then we will be extinct within 100 odd years anyway
