Mad_Cyril When you get to mains conditioning and power isolation you know you’ve gone too far. If you TV supports it you can run a decent 3 channel with the TV as the centre speaker- TVs like Samsung and Sony this works well in the absence of a dedicated centre speaker.

    No danger there 😂

Wife wanted to rewatch Civil War from last year. That is a well designed movie when it comes to sound. Made me very happy about our 7 speaker set up in our movie room. Cats came to see what the fuck was happening clearly alarmed at the White House-raid in the end.

      Homegrove Civil War

Think I gave up on it after twenty minutes or so… worth sticking with?

Amps it is VERY divecive which is apt considering what’s it about. Just from a technical point of view it rocks for sure. Sound and picture. We enjoy the film for other merits too.

I’ve said it before, but Civil War was a 5/10 at best. I was expecting so much more.

          Yeah it was boring

Bought me one of these. I previously had a Sony X700 4K Blu ray-player, but I got sick of it freezing with 100 G discs, for which it is infamous for.

Looking forward to playing with the extra HDR-settings. And this switched Dolby Vision on automatically, which the Sony couldn’t do either.

Homegrove What’s your choice of disk for ‘testing’ purposes?

Amps several. Both Dune-films on 4K are excellent technically for picture and sound even if you don’t like the movies. From old movies shot on film Jaws is great to show to people, they did a very thorough job restoring that. I showed the Balrog-scene from the first LOTR to my father in law when he wanted an example. Plenty of Dolby Atmos-activity and huge low end in that scene soundwise, and it’s hard to believe Balrog itself is a 24 years old CGI-character, it has aged wonderfully.

The beefier dimensions give it a more substantial look. The bevel cut finish around its edges looks attractive enough, like a strong penis, as does the brushed effect on the top panel. But up close, the player looks and feels a little cheap and plasticky

Not my words Hannu, but the words of High Performance Blu-Ray Review.
