Homegrove I thought you bought Cambridge as height speakers ? I’ve bought Monitor Audio Radius 45s, they do look very similar though! Unfortunately they didn’t turn up today, hopefully tomorrow

We’re about to turn the daughter’s play room into a TV / Music room.

Would love to combine a decent TV sound system with something I can listen to music on?

Any suggestions welcome. We’re Sammy plus soundbars everywhere else in the house.

Needs to pass ‘inspection’ so can’t be shelling on bespoke artisan equipment

Mad_Cyril any AV receiver-surround speaker combo should be good for music too, since you can use the amp’s “straight” or “direct” function to make sure it plays stereo sources as stereo instead of decoding it to some form of surround sound. The Sony I have has proved to be excellent so far, and didn’t cost much. Sony 790. It just has limitations with speakers, so it’s best to be mindful about that, the speakers can’t go below 6 ohms. I recommend a 5.1.2-speaker set up. It doesn’t put the cost that much up, but you can enjoy Atmos-content too. There’s more of that out there all the time.

You don’t have to put the height speaker on the ceiling, above the TV as high as possible on the wall should do it. It certainly does for me. The Cambridge audio satellite speakers should do fine for height and rear speakers even if you’re more fussy, but I’d put money on the front, center and subwoofer-speakers. Polk Audio is a good budget-brand for those.

Thanks for this HG, exactly the wormhole entry point I needed.

I think aesthetics will be the major factor in gaining acceptance.

The AV looks the easiest bit and they look really good connectivity wise nowadays.

      Into the Wormhole!!!

Mad_Cyril the Cambridge Audio satellites are good looking and tiny, and come in black and white. Wharfedale has a new speaker-line called Diamond that’s apparently clearly the best affordable home theatre speaker out there now, and is also at 8 ohms so will be suitable for the Sony amp. And they’re in the UK, so plus on that too.

Laser projector technology seems promising. The new Sony 4K laser projectors look mint.

I’m working with the pass I’ve been granted Mono, the boss doesn’t like change!

It’s a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.

            My roof that is.

Demo’d on Monday, requires total blackout, which would be OK for a pure Cinema room but not for watching stuff whilst other viewing options are taken!

On the other hand, also demo’d some new tellys, were fucking tip top with Blu Ray.

Eat shit all you pokers of fun at @Homegrove

            In another ‘talking to myself’ post have finally plumped for the following;

            Panasonic TX-65MZ800B
            Denon AVR-X2800H Black
            Monitor Audio MASS 5.1 Midnight

All with 6 year Richer Sounds guarantee.

Arrives tomorrow but lack of available trade folks means will likely all be set up after I return to work 🤦‍♂️

            Interesting stuff I know!

              👍

And a few other bits & pieces.

If it gets enough use, and works well for music too, can probs see me upgrading them in a few years so a brilliant price.

They sound dece as they are though, so hopefully once and done.

Should be perfect for MixPub 😃
