I’m currently doing a rewatch, and have been struck by the fact that Season 2 is low-key the best season they had. It was before they set the mold for what would become prestige tv, and so the show still largely functioned like a traditional tv program, which I think was to its benefit.
Anyways, my pick is From Where to Eternity, Season 2, Episode 9. I love the episodes Michael Imperioli wrote. I know a lot of fans absolutely hate them, but I think his style of making each character act out of pure self interest, mixed with comedic timing, suits the show perfectly. Tony Sirico gets to put on one of his strongest performances, Tony trying to do a speed run as a good dad to AJ is a riot, and Chris explaining Hell is all completely fantastic.
I know we got some fanz on here, so please tell me why I am completely wrong, and what the true answer to “what is the best episode of Sopranos?” is.
