alistair ….remember when this was the ‘buzz’ track in Mixmag Update etc. before it was signed to a major, scored 3 white labels at Quaff in Soho, went up to the Toon for the weekend and sold 2 of them for £50 each…. result! (wish I’d sold all 3 as I don’t think I’ve played it since)

I remember when it was first released. I think it was on TOTP as well. I went to party and the DJ played it about four times. Kept singing and he vocal for a few days after.

Unbroken1 It was St. Etienne but not Sarah Cracknell on the vocals. She did the vocals on the white label rarer versions of this track but was contracted to only release under St. Etienne. They apparently deemed it too cheesy to release under the band name fearing it would ruin the direction they were going in so used Cola Boy instead and recorded the official version with a different vocalist whose name I can’t remember.

I’ve only heard vocal with Sarah Cracknell but I’ve just read that Janey Lee Grace was asked to front the band. Janey Lee Grace is now on BBC Radio 2’s Steve Wright
