Yeah, almost went for the digital – was a snip at £999 + Tax 😀. I find it really frustrating. I get that people want to preserve vinyl but that type of vinyl fundamentalism is just dumb. Seems like another business model that’s in a race to the bottom.
What is the point of deterring people from buying digital only if you can get the digital version with the vinyl. If you then price it at £12 for the vinyl + £5 shipping + tax, that is a pretty hefty price tag meaning that the tune would have to be outstanding to merit buying it and most people just wouldn’t. You then realise it isn’t about the preservation of vinyl. it ’s just cynical price gouging. I understand that getting vinyl pressed and distributed is not cheap but presumably it must make the margins ridiculously small if most people won’t pay it.
In an industry of throwaway music where there’s just too much shit, I imagine it would make the consumer have to decide whether they really want it but the balance still isn’t right.
The Teasdale tune is mint by the way. Will add to the list of other quality tunes that I will probably never be able to buy. 😆
