Actually here’s a tip - if I had any spare equity at the mo, I’d buy tesla after the split tomorrow. It’s almost certain to go up. So lets see how it does shall we?

Wally the Tesla stock probably will see a bounce tomorrow after the split. As long as there’s some other mug that will pay more and more for it, it’s all good. But reality always bites eventually.

Millsy Sure but that’s what the split is about. It’ll divide the price by 5 and open it up to a whole new tier of retail fund and casual investors. They’ll start pushing it back up and I’ll make a call about flogging them.

Dan i’ve managed to stick to 4 days a week since june and i don’t think i’m going back to 5. that extra day off makes such a huge difference in my quality of life. that taste of retirement has me hooked.

Wally it almost sounds here like you’re saying “sure Millsy old chap, the stock is overvalued - but that’s what the split is for!! lol, cos it will divide the price by five, so then it will be less overvalued. Because if the price gets divided by five the company is worth less even though the number of shares is multiplied by five”

Amps One of the biggest reasons for a stock split is to generate more equity for some big thing they’ve got coming up, and for Tesla, I’m guessing they want that so they can build their new factory in Austin, TX. When you offer lower priced shares to a larger number of people, you’re turning on the firehose, instead of getting an expensive trickle.

C_J You get that people being able to buy 0.2 of a really pricey share instead of having to buy 1 will encourage more people to buy yes? Not every place does fractional shares. (Which aren’t really - they are just the stock broker splitting one up)

Tesla are splitting their shares because they want to split it into a greater number of pieces. At the moment there’s 200 million pieces, after the split there will be a billion pieces. So they’re just slicing the business up more finely. When they started up 200 million pieces was a good number but now that they are much bigger, one of those two hindered pieces is too big a chunk to be useful as the very smallest bit that you can divide the business into.

No worries folks, I know how the share split works… but as the lower individual price makes it less risky for many buyers, I assumed that would give it more stability.

Is it over priced… it’s still priced on ‘potential’ imo, I’m waiting to see how other auto manufacturers do in the coming few years before selling.

More working from home and a less certain employment picture does not spell great conditions for luxury automobile manufacturers imo. I’d be more inclined to be buying online retailers and home office suppliers.

Amps they’re definitely on the way. A few electric airplanes round the world have successfully made brief flights now but it appears the X-57 has not undergone a flight test yet.
