mono-stereo he’s been struggling ever since they changed the rules in 2022 and I think he still a top tier driver, but he is no longer driving a championship winning car.
Once a team delivers a dominant car, you no longer need a top driver to deliver a title, you need that type a driver for a situation like 2021 where the battle with Verstappen was really close because both cars were very similar in overall pace.
Hamiltons titles with Mercedes could’ve been easily won with Rosberg for example…
His title with McLaren is the most impressive, his title fight in 2022, and of course his rookie year vs. Alonso
I’d make the same argument about Shumacher… Barichello could’ve won most of these titels in that car, there was no need for MS really, but at least in his case he actually helped build that team by getting some British engineers over to Ferrari, where Hamilton came in and just rode that Ross Brawn wave.
