Along_the_Wire He was racing for 1st position from what I saw, seems like many of the commentators and people they interviewed all thought it was just a racing incident. It was definitely nowhere near as bad as Schumacher back in the day clearly taking out his rivals for his own benefit.

Along_the_Wire Not sure what you mean Grant? If you are behind you try to overtake right within the rules of the sport? From the vid it was neck and neck going into the corner, slight change on the braking which gave Max a half a car then they both turned in and then the touch.

As the commentators said, both drivers could have given each other a bit more road but both are absolute winners competing for the WC, so they didn’t, one came off worse.

I’m not even a massive Lewis fan, just thought this particular incident was a 50/50.

Hursty Definitely didn’t look malicious, and I also think a 50/50 call - and with a coin toss, you’re gonna win and lose some. Hamilton could have given way, but Verstappen equally didn’t have to turn in in quite the way he did. There was a good slo mo view on Sky Sports showing that he clearly turned in some way before he needed to.

Horner’s whingeing on the radio to the race stewards was fairly pathetic. Always had a lot of time for him, but that rankled.

At that speed its a gamble by both drivers, Verstappen turns in expecting Hamilton to ease maybe. 50/50 for me, I don’t think anyone is really at fault, that’s just racing. Hamilton defo surprised him by dropping the shoulder and moving to the inside the way he did.

Perez tried the exact same move as Hamilton at about lap 45. He only stuck his nose up there but he had a look. Which basically renders all of Christian horner’s bellyaching null and void. I normally have a lot of time for him but that was a bit much

Horner is still whinging about the crash. It’s formula 1 racing ffs, racing incidents happen.

Used to have a lot of time for him but this season he’s not keeping his cool as much, pressure of being in the mix for the title again finally?

Hursty It’s been surprising to see the way Redbull have reacted to this. Horner and Marko both making themselves look like total tits.

Not sure about that.

Hamilton is brilliant around there but based on how the cars have performed this season on tacks with similar characteristics, such as Monaco (where Mercedes were terrible) It’s a track that is likely to suit the Red Bull more than the Mercedes.

I hope you are right though. I like Verstappen but have never liked Red Bull, mainly due to the management.

Hursty Looks like a great track to drive, Terrible for racing under these regulations. If the cars they’ve designed for next year work as planned races like this one should be a lot more competitive.

Quite a few overtakes on a track designed for much smaller cars, strategy changes as the race developed, hometown hero being the first of good countrymen to win the race. We all know that the current regs don’t favour close racing, so I’m not sure what else you were expecting?!
