  • Sasha and Digweed Roundhouse 11th October 2024

RichM yeah, that’s the Audio Junkies - Aspects Of Rhythm track that I was talking about above. Sasha’s played it a lot in his recent sets.

    Had a great evening.

Thought Sasha was mint for the opening 2 hours. Shame the sound system was set to ‘shite’ for that part. (I don’t get why you wouldn’t just have it set up from the start when a headliner is playing?) He dropped a track that had a woman going ‘aaahh aaahhhhhhhhh’ over it (similar style to raincry) that was monstrous then Digweed came on at 8 absolutely swinging. (Him getting a proper welcome from the crowd was a lush moment) His hour or so was mental good. They both dropped some absolute bangers. The longer it went on though, the more it became apparent they don’t really mesh together as well as they used to. Digweed bringing the hammer down with driving prog techno only for Sasha to bring it back down (he did a 20 min section that was just cheesy shite - including a remix of what sounded like 9pm till I come (Michael Mayer remix maybe?). Pulled it together for the last hour when it was more fitting to play some closer cheesy ish tunes. Sasha dropped an out of time mash up / remix. Didn’t recognise anything else other than some LNOE tune which is always a result when seeing Sasha and it was nice letting John wrap it up with another round of appreciation from the crowd.

Roundhouse was a decent venue. Atmosphere was way better than outernet (mainly because S&D were front and centre, not shuffled off to the side) but not as good as a proper club but hey ho. When I saw the signs saying pt 1 - Sasha 6pm, pt 2 Sasha & Digweed but no time, I did think it was contractual loop hole where he’d only do an hour to make sure everyone got paid so was a relief when he come on.

Great to see some faces from the board.

8/10 Reckon Digweed will be immense if you can catch him on his todd at the mo

Wally think @Wasily summed it up best to me last night. He said “if you heard Sasha’s part on Mixcloud/Soundcloud it’d probably sound pretty average, but the fact that we were stood on top of bass-bins and had the monitors hitting us made it feel all that much more bangin’”

      Think I heard this.

Wally That’s an excellent round up Wall. Had a brilliant night - great to see everyone - particular shout outs to @baggers44, @IndustryStandard and @Smallman1. Even the Doris like it. I was pretty twatted by 7:30 - didn’t mind the Sasha cheese fest, quite nice to have a change of gears. Had a minor carry on when I got in and now feel like I’ve been dug up.

Wally still hoping he will do an XMAS daytime XOYO. I know I’m in the minority but I prefer seeing him on his own these days

Wally Sasha dropped an out of time mash up / remix

Was a mash up of out of time and song for life. I have a short vid of it. Followed it up with a remix of Papua New Guinea.

Wasily don’t think this got played last night, but there was something very similar played for sure, and I remember thinking at the time it sounded like a Michael Mayer remix

Looked electric when Diggers came on

Wasily Nah, it was defo 9pm till I come - I’m presuming it come from the same idea as remixing the above though so guessing it was Michael Mayer but probs wrong. Was shite anyways lol.

Wally Nah, it was defo 9pm till I come

ScottBailey the track you’re talking about is around the 3:00 mark in this video

Unless there’s more that happens later on which isn’t in the video, that track doesn’t sound anything like 9PM.

It def sounds a bit closer to a dubby version of Cafe del Mar, but even then it’s so tenuous as to be unconvincing; and it’s also def not that Michael Mayer remix.

hugopal TBF, in the sober hungover light of day, I agree <shrug>
